Tropical Storm: Irene

Sad part is, I don't think the storm surge and rain could cause any flooding in Texas right now because it wouldn't be able to fill a dam.

There wouldn't be any flooding here, no matter how much rain it brought. We're so dry, and the the lakes are so low, it would all be absorbed. We'd be begging for more.

Looks like my part of the Carolina will get soaked over the weekend. I probably shouldn't accept any dogs this weekend, which sucks since that cost me money.

TRL when the ground is as dry as it is down there any rainfall will run off and not be absorbed into the ground. Hence flash flooding.

My cuz "needs killin" John says it's really, really bad. Many wells are going or are now dry.

His B-day is coming up, told him I'd send something he really needs. I figure a bottle of water!;)

Texas should host NASCAR races every week, they'd get rain then.

If I lived near the coast in Georgia, South Carolina or North Carolina, this would be a good day to hit up The Home Depot, directly.

I'm not one to spread fear but will say that if I lived in SC, I'd be bracing for this one as it's forecasted to be carrying some juice when it makes landfall Friday night/Saturday morning.

Be prepared and be safe, people.

To late. I grew up on the coast under the threat of a hurricane coming along. My dad had everything to board window doors etc labeled and ready. My mom would have clothes etc packed and ready should we get the evac order.

I no longer live on the coast but I do have 5 gallons of fresh gas for the little generator along with spare lantern globes and fuel for the Coleman lanterns, alway have charcoal handy to cook on.

Tomorrow I'll be heading to the grocery store for some non perishable foods...

... you know, just in case.

I'm glad I'll be done my vacation down here in Atlanta day after tommorow home to Pa thursday and back off to Vermont for school saturday...YOU'LL NEVER GET ME ALIVE!!!!

Well it seems like the path now has it turning away from my area in NC. I hope all the coastal people hunker down and be safe!

I've noticed it seems to be turning northeast so the eastcoast may be spared the brunt...if they're lucky.

6 am news, dammm bubble headed anchor hands off to the weather guesser with "tell us more about the impending hurricane..."

Bread and milk will be flying off the shelves.....

At this point, the cracks in the ground could swallow smartcars in some areas. Would still flash flood, but I'm thinking a few thousand gallons fo water would go in the cracks first.

We need some soaking rain, not T-storms, just some soakers.
