Two local boys who race at Bowman Gray Stadium will be racing in the truck series this Saturday at Martinsville. Between the two of them, they have 11 championships driving in the featured modified series. Tim Brown, 8 time champ was scheduled to driver the #31 truck from the Rick Ware stable. Tim also works for Michael Waltrip Racing. Burt Myers, nephew to the famous Danny "Chocolate" Myers, was able to obtain a ride in a truck from the Bobby Dotter stable. Since the two of them have never raced in this series, they would have had to qualify for the race to make it, but things now have been changed. It seems that the series is having a hard time fielding a full field and so now the two of them will be teammates in SS Green Light Racing trucks. Burt will be driving the 07 truck that Chad McCumby has driven and Tim will be driving the 08 truck. I think the reason for the change is simple, those trucks have been racing and the owner needs the points and NASCAR does what it can to help out those owners. In fact, NASCAR might even have waived a few things in order to make this happen as they have done so in the past. But the main thing was that NASCAR had a full field for the race.

My friend who owns two modifieds told me how NASCAR was able to get a full field for the big modified race at Martinsville last month. The field was short two cars so they arranged for two drivers from BGS to get rides, in sub-quality cars, but would still start. NASCAR told them that if they would drive, they wouldn't have to pay a cent and in fact, wouldn't have to have a "tour" license, one already had one and the other didn't. All they had to do was to start the race and race for at least two laps and they would receive $1200. The two drivers finished 41 and 42. I just hope that the two who will be racing in the trucks aren't given the same thing. Both of them want to race very much and want to show what they can do, trying to move up. I won't be able to see the race because I will be working, but if you do, keep an eye on Tim and Burt. Of course, unless they are up front, keeping an eye on them will be very difficult. Good luck to the two.

I hope they get to race, buck. Weather at M'ville is looking iffy at best.

All the rain that has been here for 24 hours is moving that direction.

I wish the local boys good luck.
