Truck RACE thread ---- Pocono

Oh listen, all they're talking about is the caution clock.

Yeah, they can barely run a lap or two. It's like Daytona.

Good grief! Another one! At least they've made it halfway.

Five wins by a rookie.

That's some scary stuff. Great equipment and a even better driver...

Congrats to Byron!

William Byron is the real deal. One of the greatest drivers I've ever seen race in person. Like I said in a previous thread, I've watched him outdrive Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell before. And he's only been racing for three years.

Anybody who thought last week's Indy was the worst race they ever saw should have seen this. 9 or 10 cautions in 60 laps, with no green flag run longer than 9 laps. A wreckfest is one thing, but even some of the semi-experienced guys looked like this was their first Truck race ever. I know this is a developmental series, but most of what was developed today were pit crews' abilities to deal with emergency repairs.

Move this sucker to a track better suited to the trucks and their mostly young drivers.

Boy, Toyota is really building a bench. I dunno where they're going to put them all, but it's problem Ford and Chevy wouldn't mind having.

I fail to see how this was a terrible race. Last weekend people complained about Indy because there was no wrecks, passing, nothing. The truck race today had it all. I enjoyed it.

It was nothing but restarts. Sure, those are exciting but I don't want a steady diet of them. There were no green flag stops, no strategy, nobody demonstrating they improved over a longer run. 27 laps of caution; that's 45% of the race. I feel sorry for the people who bought tickets.

We'll probably get a similar show in a few weeks at Bristol, but that race will have enough scheduled laps to make up for the number of cautions.

I sure have seen anything like it. He is in great equipment, but like you said, so are Chase and Bell. He has a better record than Erik Jones as well. Very impressive.

I wonder which of the young guys coming up are really "the property of" Toyota or Ford or Chevy via long term contract. Anyone know? William Byron, for example, looks like a terrific prospect. Does anyone really know if Toyota signed him to a long term deal, or is he a "free agent" who used his sponsorship to rent a truck deal from Kyle Busch?

It sounds like with all the wrecks the egg timer was not needed. A developmental series is one thing but it sounds like these guys need training wheels or need remedial training in a lower series.
