Today at 3:30 the CTS will run its final race of the season at Homestead. The closest points race in NASCAR's top three series is on the line. And it looks as if it might be hotly contested right down to the end.

Mike Bliss leads the points standings going in and qualified on the pole for todays race.

Rick Crawford sits 32 points back of Bliss in the points chase and will start todays effort from the 4th position on the grid. Should Rick be able to make up the 32 point deficit and win the championship without winning todays race he will also become a series champion without having a single victory to his credit this season.

Veteran Ted Musgrave sits third in the points, 71 back from leader Bliss. Ted put his truck on the outside pole for todays race.

Spring woes entered the qualifying picture for the trucks yesterday as well. Robert Pressley qualified his truck with the 4th fastest time of the session. During post qualifying inspections an unapproved spring was found on teh front of Robert's truck and his time was disallowed, forcing him to use a provisional to make the field. He will start 33rd. Do not know this for an absolute, but have heard that the problem with the spring was the 4 1/2 coil requirement.

The race will broadcast live on ESPN2.

This ought to be good. Having the top contenders starting close together could make for some very interesting racing.

I would love to see Rick Crawford win the championship.
