Lucas Oil Raceway or IRP, ORP whatever you wanna call it. Anyone got anything for Ausin Dillion tonight? He's been the man as of late....

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Jennifer Jo doesn't win tonight.

Wow either the weather is bad or the ticket price for this race is really high because the crowd looks crappy.

Go Todd!

Krista mentioned in pre-race that Crawfordsville Road (the main entrance) is under construction.

It was bad enough without construction, it probably really sucks now.

ahh that would do it, too bad this is the last truck race here.

Anyone else have audio issues with SPEED? It will be fine then come back from commercial and I can't even hear it.

hahahaha Micheal trying to sell people on the idea of coming to that track to watch a truck race sometime.Ahhh Micheal isn't this the last truck race there??????????

Bodine is full of chit.If you just out there riding around trying to stay out of everybodies way. What are you doing running the bottom of the track?

seems like todd could have waited a few more laps before taking a nap.

I am going to miss this track :(
Can I get an "AMEN!" on that one?

It's a track where there is always actual racing and NA__AR dumps it because it doesn't have Sky boxes and VIP suites? What do those things have to do with racing?

Losing the Cup Lite and CTS on this track is akin to them taking dates away from North Wilkesboro. My prediction is that the race fans won't quickly forget it.

Remember when the trucks used to run on the 3/8 mile Colorado National Speedway? Nascar is just out for big coporate dollars, they don't seem to care about anything else.

NASCAR is going the way of the dinosaur.

They think those kids driving ricer burner Hondas and those little girls who drool over Austin Dillon and Kasey Kahne are more important than loyal fans.

Their gimmicks have failed.

Brian France is destroying stock car racing as a whole in this country without the courtesy of lube before he bent us all over:mad:

Do you expect any business to remain in the stone age just for asthetics sake?

No, but I don't expect NASCAR to get rid of, well, every good track either. They got rid of North Wilkesboro, Rockingham. Brian's partner in the destruction of auto racing in America destroyed Bristol. Then they removed Memphis and Mansfield. Now IRP.

I hope NASCAR fans gather en mass and burn Charlotte and Daytona when Brian France decides to move Martinsville's races to some 1.5 mile tracks.

I thinks it more than that, smaller tracks equal better racing imo.

As for being contemporary are not a stoner, a solid argument could be made about the TV aspect.
If a track in a smaller market, or with less seats offers better racing, the TV money should be a strong plus or strong incentive to favor them.

Snoozers at Kansas with 2x 4 hour Cup events could be a drag to the TV contracts, while a single Darlington races unquestionionably has a better race and value. That's a positive that's available to almost any viewer in America.

If I was a TV buying exec, or a team sponsor, the quality of the events would offset some of the seating capacity issues.

Having a quality product should be paramount to growth and survival, and should appeal to those who want long term success.

NASCAR didn't "get rid" of the old tracks as much as it became apparent that they were getting run down and outdated for a major league venue in terms of fan accomodations and accesability.

When the trucks ran at Colorado National back in the 90s the place was sold out. The racing was great, look at what we have now, a track like IRP, the last race ever and it was a crappy crowd. I think Nascar needs to go back to the bullrings with this series, it was much more interesting, and it gernerated interest with the up and coming drivers. Nascar is going no where with this series just like the other two. They keep making mistake after mistake with the Cup and Nationwide series, and now the Trucks. Pretty soon there won't be a truck series, they struggle now for 36 trucks, sponsorless rides seem to be more frequent too. So yeh I argue for the fact that the stone age as you say it, was a hell of a lot better than what we have now.

Wow! That sounds like "NASCAR SPEAK" from lil Brian France!

Let me translate:
We ( NASCAR family ) aint makin enough money at these lil podunk race tracks! We don't care if the fans love them and there's Great Racing there! We gotta get rid of them and build ANOTHER 100,000 seat ( with parking for 30k ) 1.5 mile cookie cutter track so we can gouge more money outta our fans.

NASCAR can take a lesson from major league baseball, who gave up the awful stadiums of the 70's and went back to parks that kept a historical look yet with confortable seating and modern accomodations. There's not much that can be done with the superspeedways but they have a brand of excitement of their own. Homestead is a fine example of a rack that was basically rebuilt in response to fan reaction and now provides great racing. I think NASCAR is capable of listening to fan response and provides a pretty wide variety of racing venues, but it's simply impossible to please everyone all the time.
