The Charlotte Observer's Jim Utter tweeting that it's official that NASCAR will race at Eldora, no SAFER barriers needed.

It's going to be a caution marred mess. Stupid idea.

I disagree. It's not like World of Outlaw races are caution marred messes.

I think the guys who never raced on dirt before will have some difficulty at first, but after a race weekend of practices and qualifying, I think the race will be fun and competitive. First Truck race I'm actually planning to go out of my way to watch on TV.

These guys can be competetive dirt racers after a weekend of practice ? It's that easy?

Maybe competitive was the wrong word. But, I think after a weekend of practice, it won't be a total cluster.

Case in point, NHRA funny car guy Cruz Pedregon has never raced on ovals professionally yet was able to finish 7th in this year's Prelude To The Dream.

Didn't the NASCAR Trucks used to race on dirt? Back in 1996 when they were the SuperTrucks? Or am I thinking of something else?

I dont think the trucks will tear up the track every 40 laps. its not going to be like when the late models are there. its going to be how arca does the springfield mile. its going to be so damn hard packed and dry its just going to be a little slicker. i doubt we get to see sidways trucks all over the track or anything.
