Truex Jr Breaks Wrist At Bristol

I couldn't find anything on how bad it is.
 
If its just a sprain he'll be fine. Between now and Sunday he should more or less be ok to drive.

Michael Waltrip Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. will race this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway with a broken right wrist suffered in an accident Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.
An MRI on Monday confirmed a scaphoid fracture and sprain to his right wrist, the team announced in a news release. He was fitted with a special cast that will enable him to grip the steering wheel and drive. The team said that Truex has been cleared to race.

It's just so much harder today . Back in the day , you could shoot the guy full of novocane and painkillers ,end of discomfort , today with drug testing and stuff , he pretty much has to ignore the pain and drive. Just not fair .:(
 
Wow, 3rd Cup driver injured this year. Hope this doesn't hurt his Chase chances too much.
 
the in-car camera kept showing him holding the wrist and at the time I thought he might be hurt. but after no follow up by the announcers and no mention by martin I decided maybe he was just keeping his hands off the wheel until the hits quit coming.

hope he can overcome the injury for the chase. an admission: I think truex can drive and doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Truex, Jr. has broken wrist; will drive at Atlanta: An MRI on Monday confirmed a scaphoid fracture and sprain of #56-Martin Truex Jr.s right wrist suffered in Saturday nights accident at Bristol Motor Speedway. Doctors fitted Truex with a special cast Tuesday hell wear indefinitely. The cast enables him to better grip the steering wheel and compete in Sundays NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway as well as the 11 remaining races. Truex worked closely with NASCAR this week and has been cleared to race. A multi-car crash collected Truex on lap 448 Saturday sending the NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota into the outside wall. Truex was treated in the medical center Saturday. MWR has yet to determine if a stand-by driver is needed for this weekend. Truex is 14th in the points and holds the first of two wildcard entries as he seeks his second consecutive berth in NASCARs Chase the for Sprint Cup.(MWR)(8-27-2013)
 
I knew he was hurt when they first showed the shot of him on TV. Hope he's better soon!
 
The downside to this is that yes, he will race but will most then likely have to take it extra easy on the wheel.

I would not be surprise if he just decides to make laps as a back marker.

If by Richmond he's not fully to 100% I dont think he should risk re-injuring the wrist.

That race is already tough to handle, with his wrist shot it will be twice as bad.

guess he'll be turnin left w/ his left hand mostly......w/ help from rt 4 fingers.
tuff guy....he'll be fine.
thought he was showin more than frustration ....in car camera...when he hit.
had it been denny.....he'd a jumped outa car ....holdin wrist....lookin fer cameras .
hope he makes chase.

I suffered a similar wrist fracture while playing hockey years ago, I know how Truex Jr. feels, it's a very annoying pain to deal with but it recovers fast with a cast which I heard he has on now.

Well being where he is in points I doubt this will have much of an effect on how he drives, he will adapt to the injury and after 2 weeks or so this will be a non issue.
 
He's been fitted with a special cast that allows him to grip the steering wheel and he is expected to finish the season after being cleared by NASCAR.
 
Denny Hamlin told SiriusXM Radio on Thursday night that he suffered a wrist injury in the same crash that injured Martin Truex Jr. last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Hamlin told host Claire B. Lang that he is wearing a splint on his right hand. Hamlin said his injury is “just a major jam ... more ligament stuff. Mine will heal in no time.’’

I remember that, at the time I didn't think twice about them taping the Roosters eyes open so he could see, they did what they had to do to be able to race

I just went back and looked it up. That was a wreck during the Clash and he won at Richomd after the Daytona 500. One tough dude.
 
If Denny wouldn't have gone rogue and slammed into Kevin, none of this would be happening. Dude needs to get outta the car
