how many people think that Martin Truex will replace Micahel Waltrip at the start of next year. I think Micahel can still save it if he won some races and he would secure his job if the wins were not restrictor plate races

I wouldn't be too suprised if it happened...I think it really will be NAPA's decision.

I don't see it happening next year. Martin still has a lot to learn and Busch is the best place.
I have been saying the same about Vickers, he should of stayed in bush for a year or 2 longer.

I can see Truex moving up into the cup cars next year. I don't think he should , but I have a feeling Waltrip is gone at the end of the year and Truex will have his ride.

I don't think it'll happen for another 2 yrs. Truex still needs more experience first.

He will eventually. Martins been in the Busch game for about 2 years, this season being his rookie year, if he wins it in his rookie year, it's his choice to go pro or not.

This is his 1st full year, but i belive he cant run for rookie of the year because he raced in over 5 or 7 races last year.

Well, that could explain why Mikey is kinda up tight lately.
He won't even speak to Kerry.

You are allowed to run 7 races without it counting as your rookie season.

Truex Jr ran 10 races in 2003 therefore that was his rookie season in Busch.

Interestingly, he ran 3 or 4 of those races in his own equipment.

from what i remember hearing over the winter somewhere, michael has this season, and one more on his contract, and with napa. Truex was a going to start running 5 to 7 races this year and next year. The third year would have been when micheal retired, and Truex would have the 15 ride.

That very well seems to have changed given the fact michael has been sucking it up big time in the cup series this year and truex is kickin some serious rearend in busch so far.

This is a litte off topic, but .... it used to be sort of funny how Michael would run through every sponser he had every time a microphone was thrust in front of his face. In fact he used to be quite comical most of the time Now he just seems to be a stale and boring sycophant. That is why I wouldn't miss him much if he were to be replaced. I guess. Dangit, I used to like Mikey. :(

I thought all 10 races last year were in the Chance2 car. He ran 4 races in 2002 in his own equipment.

I think there's a good chance of it happening. I'd also like to see Benson have a shot in DEI's 3rd car.

Nope. According to his bio on the DEI site, he debutted with Chance 2 at Richmond in May.

Prior to that he ran his own #58 Sea Watch International car at Nashville in April.

He also ran his own #58 car at Kentucky and IRP. The one I'm not sure on is when he ran the #91 at Dover.

He ran the #8 three times and the #81 three times.

Michael Waltrip has called a news conference for May 20-25th to address these questions.

^_^

I would like to see Truex run just one more year in Busch before he takes over the ride.... But the more you talk about it, the more Mikey will get scared and start running well.

Mikey's a smart dude and one of the best restrictor plate racers in Cup right now. I think that Jr. likes having him on the team, without him i don't think Jr. would have the same amount of chances to win restrictor plate races IMO. Truex is a great find for sure , lots of pure talent, but then again he is in great equipment in Busch right now, where there are very few quality rides. I think bringing him up next year would be a mistake, but this is fast becoming " a what have you done for me lately" sport.

Dale made JR run two years in Busch.

I believe JR will want to see Martin tun two years as well.

Will NAPA stay with DEI? I believe so.

Will Michael leave cup?

I thinks so. He will be running his own team and may expand on that. He can run plate races with superior equipment but what else can he do (besides make his sponsors happy with his endless promotions)
