The 2007 racing schedule hasn't been released but one significant change is expected: All races will start no earlier than 2pm. The later starting times come at the demand of television networks Fox, FX, ABC, TNT and ESPN. They pushed NASCAR to start most races at 4pm to better capture West Coast viewers and create a link to prime-time shows, but they settled for a mix. None of the times, however, will be any earlier than 2pm.(Augusta Chronicle)(6-22-2006)

Huh? I don't get it.

I would imagine that is Eastern Time --- 2PM. That would translate to 11AM for the West Coast. Right now, some races start as early as 9AM in California --- not exactly Prime Time.

yea. right now, all nascar races (that i can tell) start at noon local time unless it's primetime or has a conflict. That's 9 AM west coast. I agree with TRL on that.

and not to mention when ever they race on monday for rain in the east they give it at 11am i wonder at what time they give it on the west coast.

But you know, Maj, I'm up at 6 a.m., chompin' at the bit and pacin' around.

TRL, Maj and reck hit it dead on. if they start the races later in east-coast time, they'll be able to let the viewers on the west coast watch the races just a lil' bit easier, and they won't have to get up as early.

thats what TiVo is for, that way you can speed through all the commercials as well. I dont really mind the 9 am time, gives me time to cook up some breakfast and get ready for the race. I guess the time isnt a huge factor for me, since I dont really do much else on Sundays other than NASCAR and after the race football if in season..

and to those that dont have it?

Well I would guess you have a computer and for ~$30 you can buy a USB TV capture device from TigerDirect.com that you can hook your cable to and have a poor man's TIVO.

hahah i like that one...maybe i'll do that lol
