Hey guys. I plan to race UCars at Southside Speedway in 2017. It looks like I might get a manual transmission 2004 Chevy Cavalier to fix up. I have a few questions though. They recommend you have a radio. Do any of you all know of a good radio for the car? Also, any good places to find decent helmets, driver suits, racing seats etc.

Thanks,
AD3

Talk to Jesse Jones and see what you need to be competitive. I don't know what they run at Southside but this is the region where the Celicas run and are dominant.

For a radio they may mean a Raceceiver. Best check with your track's officials. If that is the correct one, you might also want to upgrade to the helmet speakers (in lei of the standard ear buds), or holding your ear buds in your ears with bandage tape. Even in UCars it can get pretty noisy and then you can't hear what they're saying.

We used to get pretty good deals on race driver apparel from G-Force. But you really need to try on helmets at a store to find one that fits right because everybody's head is different (the listed sizes don't help much).

Pretty much any oval track parts supplier (like Smiley's Racing Products) sell seats at about the same prices. Maybe you can save money on shipping by choosing a supplier nearest to you. Make sure it's a metal seat - the fiberglass ones (if you can still find them) are unsafe in race cars.
