I am trying to win an auction on a great guitar amp, but the reserve has not been met. I have no idea what they reserve is, of course, but it is really my dream amp. A Fender Twin! The auction ends at like 1am eastern time and I'm screwed if nobody bids the reserve price. Oh well, I'll get over it I guess.:(

I never bid on reserve stuff. I never bid on anything until there is like 12 seconds left on the auction.

I listed some LPs on ebay with a ridiculous reserve once. No takers, but 2 of the potential buyers contacted me by email. I sold about 2/3 of them for more than my reserve, and still have about 80 of them to list again.

Anybody wanna buy some LPs?

Contact them and ask if you can buy it if no one meets the reserve price. I've tried it before and it never hurts to ask. Either that or bid till you meet their price or go bust!:)

I've tried upping my bid. But with their proxy bidding system, your bid only goes up as much as is needed to beat any existing bids.

Reserve means the seller has a minimum amount they want. If no one bids up to the seller's reserve then the item doesn't sell. If you really want it keep bidding till you get to his reserve.........but you don't know how high you will have to go. Best to stay away from reserves. You could be taken for a ride......most reserves are very pricey. You are obligated to buy if you win..........so be careful.

Reserve Price Auction

Some auctions have a reserve price, a hidden minimum price, on their item.

How it works:

A reserve price is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for the item.

As a buyer, you are not shown the reserve price, only whether or not the reserve has been met.

The seller is not obligated to sell the item if the reserve price is not met.

The winning bidder must meet or exceed the reserve price and have the highest bid.

I set my alarm clock so I could get up shortly before the auction ended. But there were several bidders who went more than I was willing to go and it still says "reserve not yet met". So screw it. Reserve auctions are that way a lot. Oh well, I'm going back to bed. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

you may need to re-register. Have you emailed ebay technical and inquired about what the hold up is?

Its done this to me the last few times I tried to get an account

maybe it has to do with your age.???? I don't know, just a question that I would ask ebay.

i think you have to be over 15 or 16 and Im 16 I might end up saying Im 18 and use my brothers name or somethin

You shouldn't lie to them, it could get you into trouble. But I would definitely ask them what the problem is. If it is a problem with your age, you need to get one of your parents to sign up and then you can use their account with their permission of course!

What LPs do you have I might be intrested

Hard rock, classic rock etc from 70s thru 90s. You name it, I probably have it. Stuff like KISS, Motley Crue, Molly Hatchet, Def Leppard, and lesser known bands. That's in the pile designated for sale at least. I got about anything you would want as long as it's rock. I'll sell any of it for the right price. Everything from the very common to some AC/DC never sold in the US.

Sorry, that was one of the ones that sold. Sheik Yerbouti, DJ copy too. Got $12 for it too, not bad for a freebie.

Idlewild South, but it's rough. I mean REAL rough.

No Dead....aside from a couple of songs, never really got into them.

Rough like I wouldn't sell it to anyone I knew. It's beat up pretty good. The cover is very worn, the vinyl itself is real crackly.

I won't lie to you....it's a 50 cent copy at best. You can beat it at any used store.

Hey, at least I'm honest.

Yes to both, although the only SRV (I think) left is Live Alive. I'd have to dig to make sure, but that's the only one I remember.

Stones...5 of them. Tattoo You, England's Newest Hit Makers, Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, and the octagon cover of Through The Past Darkly.

Hey TN,
Do you have Wishbone Ash: Pilgramage? Or Grand Funk: Red Album?

Hmm, I might get back to you on those Stones records...I owe someone else here some money before I do any other spending.

No on the Grand Funk.

Wishbone Ash, I don't have that one anymore, but I do have Hot Wishbone Ash Live, Just Testing, No Smoke Without Fire, There's The Rub, and Wishbone Four.

Gonna start a new thread for these too....we've stolen this one!

I had some really rare LP's once upon a time. I had some really rare early Alice Cooper stuff, and some even rarer Electric Prunes album. The EP one listed as worth quite a bit in the old Rolling Stones pricing book I used at the time. So did the Alice Cooper one. I think I traded them in at a "record exchange" type place and I got like $14 for several hundered bucks worth of stuff. Youth is wasted on the young.
