...because he was trying to pass the knuckleheads that didn't come in for tires and ultimately win the race.

Nobody was gonna get through that corner 3 (or4) wide unscathed...thats a fact. Whether the 48 and th 24 screwed not pitting as Bobby Ford says (and most of us would agree) it still won't change the fact they ain't all gettin' thru that corner

If my driver has the opportunity to go for the win on that late restart and three wide is the result then heck yeah it's OK. I'd expect nothing less.

Here's how I seen it.

24 & 48 were stacking the fielding up behind them big time and Gordon couldn't get down quick enough to block 15 so Bowyer took that opening on the inside line. He had no place else to go and would've thanked Newman had he not got collected in the wreck.

24 had the best car all day until all those who pitted made their cars better with tires.

Of course it's proper - it's Martinsville - and nobody knows better than Jeff Gordon what happens to slower cars at Martinsville!

Who would have thought that after the Martinsville race we would have a member who just can't let it go. Racing is great isn't it?

It was just a racin' deal. All of it. Even the stupidity of the 10 team was a racin' deal. Gotta move on at some point.

Newman already said he was going to dive under Clint (and put someone 3 wide). This is the kind of driving Tony whines about, but I'm sure he's OK with this one.

I give Ryan credit for backing way off and letting Clint decide what he would do.

There is actually a greater injustice that occured after that restart. NASCAR penalized the driver who used some smarts and patience by putting him back to 7th because 'he didn't [plow through everyone and] maintain a reasonable speed'.

If you are OK with knowing that your move will result in a wreck then go for it. But be prepared for pay back.

That says it all. I don't like that my driver got knocked back 8 spots because of a mess he had nothing to do with causing, but his attitude is that it all has a way of evening out over the years.

I also don't like that I lost 30 or more Yippee Yahoo points, but dpk sure was pleased his prayers were finally answered. See, it evened out already. :)

FB, I try to use admin as little as possible. When I get numerous complaints about the proliferation of similar threads, I need to do something.

I wasn't complaining at all, because I myself was getting confused going back and forth.

If you really watch the replays without the predetermined notion that it was all Newman's fault, you'll actually see that Clint was already planning to dive down there to begin with. However, he did it after Newman had already made the same decision, and as a result, got hit in the bumper.

..and then Newman back off and you could have driven another car between he and Clint, who never backed off. Clint himself (after using Ryan's bump as an excuse) says he went under Gordon to get there before Ryan.

yes, they were 3 wide becoue the 39 hit the 15,the 48 was gona let the 24 go,NOW THIS IS OVER SO
SHAD-UP

Two drivers with the experience of Johnson and Gordon should've known they were screwed when everyone else pitted. However had they pitted everyone else would've stayed out.

...and JJ and Jeff would have bumped people out of the way or dove under them if they blocked on the restart.

I just noticed that I had a post removed sometime this morning from one of these combined threads and would like to know why. If it broke a rule, I'm not aware of which one and considering some of the posts I've seen on here since Saturday, I'm confused.
