Maybe if enough people complain, we can get it reversed so that the guy who deserves the trophy actually gets it.
Enough of this giving Championships away.

I certainly wouldn't say that giving it to the guy who won 10 races over all this year, and 5 out of the last ten races is far from "giving away the chammpionship."

Ya know, the last couple seasons before they started the chase, people were complaining that Nascar needed to reward winning more. Kenseth won a single race that year, and it wasn't enough, they said. The chase started, and this year, the guy with the most wins won. And it's still not good enough?

But he wasn't the guy with the best average finish all year. In my opinion the guy that had the best average finish over the year, not just over the last 10 races, should be the Champion.
The keep comparing Gordon to Petty and Earnhardt Sr.even though it's not the same point system.
Jimmie didn't have 30 top 10 finishes, Gordon did.
By the same method they gave Petty and Earnhardt Sr. 7 Championships each they now GIVE the trophy to a guy that, under the same method, would be 353 points BEHIND.
If that's not a gift, I don't know what is.

AMEN BROTHER :beerbang:

It's a free country and you can do what you want, but as for me, the Chase is fine. One thing I don't see is any NFL fans complaining when a Wild Card team wins the Super Bowl. Yeah, things change and some people stay in the slow lane. If the old system was still in use, Jeff Gordon would have won probably even before the chase began. Lots of interest there for those fans who want to see competition for the championship.

I've said this time and time again, if you don't like what you see, for crying out loud, why keep punishing yourself? If you believe, even for an instance, that Brian France is going to go back to the old system, you must be a pre-teen. That means that Brian doesn't care what any fan wants. It's all in the money my friend and that's the way it's always going to be.

But buckaroo, even Brian doesn't know what he is going to change tomorrow. I don't like the Chase format and am not about to change my mind because a few others think it is great. I also don't like the "Designated Hitter" rule, never have and never will.

Jeez, you National League fans will never change! :) As for Brian, I'm not sure he's even known what he wants to do. I honestly believe that the man is doing what he believes is the best for his company and nothing more. Afterall, this is a business first. His father and grandfather did things their way, to hell with anyone else. Remember when it was Richard Petty who decided to boycott the first Taladega race because he thought it was way too fast and dangerous? They are still racing there and even though they are restricting the speeds, it isn't because the drivers complained, but because it was shown to be very dangerous. CEOs and company presidents have come and gone throughout the ages so just because they are heading the company, it doesn't mean they know what they are doing. If NASCAR begins to lose big time money, the changes will be from within, not from without and you can take that to the bank.

This ain't a stick and ball sport , this is Racing. Instead of the chase I would have liked to see a premium put on winning not just good finshes. Give the WINNER of a race an extra 25 points instead of the second place guy getting the same amount of points as the winner because of bonus points. Racing is about having the faster car and winning, not the best average finish.

It is funny aint it.......Jeez Jimmy won 4 in a row .......I wanted Gordon to win it but Johnson and Knaus had the goods when they were needed and you have to give them credit

blah, al i say is bump the winner to 100 points over second, then make 5th place be 50 points ahead of 6th (to make top 5 more important) and 10th and 11th be 25 point split. Then from 30th on back only drop off 2 points per position. Then make a rule stating that any car that goes to the garage for repairs cannot come back out until the car passes at least 1 template fitting of EITHER the hood/greenhouse/roof/trunk OR both sides of the car, team's choice.

ok.... heres an idea then..... at all races in the schedule, create a "Chase for the Race..... what you do is, take the top ten, or 12...... allow them to come in for a pit stop..... line them back up on the track, score the remainder of the field 5 laps down...... give the man who has lead the most laps the pole, and line them up three wide, four deep....... and turn em loose......lmao.

bet there would be some interest in the final laps then.

Points

Just wonder how far ahead Gordon would have finished if he had spent the last 10 races riding around protecting his points lead? Probably would have been even more boring than it actually was.
