When I saw the headline, I thought it was about the dude in the green that seems to be controlling VL, pushing the Monster girls around to get into camera view. He reminded me of that dumbass that used to control VL back in the Winston Cup days that had to have his ugly mug in the camera shot over the winning driver's shoulder.

But this is about some guy that just kinda sneaked in and made himself look like he belonged wearing an M&Ms hat....funny.

I spotted him right away and wondered who he was. Then I saw his hat and figured he didn't belong there. Reminds me of some of the short track victory lanes.

That's weird. This time though NASCAR dragged the stage out to the front straight.
That leaves open a large uncontrolled area rather than the normal winners circle enclosed area.
Probably a fan who had a hot pass and just went with the flow when the team headed out to
the front straight. Kinda bold to go jump in the screen shot.

Thats the dude that drills bleed holes in Brads tires ..... he served as an apprentice on Ryan Newman's team a few years back

I was wondering who this guy is when I was watching yesterday, shout out for the 2008 Kyle Busch M/M's hat.

I can't even believe this is a story. I can totally see how someone could easily do this. I don't think it would even be hard. There is one way you can pretty much go anywhere you want at the track. I mentioned it a while back but I am not going to now because I don't want others to be able to do it too. its really rather simple if you pay attention to the people that are fans and the people that are involved with the race.

in fact I have always wondered what would happen if during the burnout celebration when the team runs out there to the car if a random fan in the pits simply ran out with them. There isn't anything saying people stay in the pits and off the track when the race is over.

You are a sly devil ... keepin' it to yourself.

Here's a gentleman getting involved with the race. Obviously walked right by security with his team kilt on:

I still gave you a clue, you could go back and search my posts if you really wanted to. I am a bit shy naturally but it would be interesting to test the limits of what I am saying. I just did it to have access to behind pit wall during the race.

Coming from the fella who said everyone but you had an untrained eye while watching plate races. Lol k

No one would have thought a thing about it had the guy not been wearing the M&M's hat. He stood out more than the Monster girl.

All I saw and will concentrate on, will be them monster energy girls,

I remember that discussion, but I think it was from last spring and may have been lost in the Great Site Crash of 2016. As you noted, most of it was based on the type of details that one could pick up by spending a few hours near the infield entrances exercising some moderately well-developed observation skills; nothing that would require Sherlockian talent.

I know, I know.

Its @Allenbaba.

Mystery solved.
Hahaha. Nope...though I was in victory lane the night before with C Bell.

Victory lane is always a sh*t show. Between sponsors, friends & family, and friends & family of friends & family, it's just impossible to control who gets in and who doesn't. There's no good way to patrol it. None. I can't think of a solution to make sure only people who belong in victory lane are allowed in victory lane. Even if I could...how would you even define who belongs there?

At Homestead, they actually give the four teams competing for a championship something like 100 special bracelets. It's the team's responsibility to distribute the bracelets (usually before the race) to people in the event that they win the championship. Only bracelets get through the gate. Having said that, when Kyle won at Miami, I didn't have a bracelet, and still brought 2 people with me into victory lane. So.....yeah.....

basically all I am going to say is don't look like a race fan. its something that is pretty easy to do actually. but maybe many race fans can't tell the difference. then again I am not a typical race fan anyways. I am somewhat surprised we don't see alot more of this. as I am standing in the pits without a hot pass, I see everyone run out, ironically brad k won the race that day too, LOL! I think to myself if I wanted to I could go wherever I wanted, including following the guys out to the car. after the race ends its pretty chaotic. all the security that is setup before the race, which basically consists of PR people telling people to get back is not there. but again I am shy in some ways not in others so its not something I would do anyways. access to the pits and garage next time, I will probably do that though. all this M&M's guy has to do is run behind the car as it pulls into victory lane. after everyone is there that is when the control of the area starts.

the funny part is going on top of the 88 pit box. that is pretty ballsy. but I will say in my limited experience it looked to me like the teams are looking for ways to give all the "special" people a unique experience at the track and in particular during the race. This includes sponsors and other money people. I could easily see how someone that acted the part could pull it off. there is probably a notion that its easier to err on the side of not offending an important person vs being always untrusting of the person there. sneaking onto the pitbox is taking it up a few notches. Another thing I wondered about is it would be pretty easy for a fan to sabotage something like tires. All the tires are stacked up right there.

I doubt anyone visited victory circle as Bill "The Hat Man" Broderick. Those were the days.

I think Broderick is the man referred to in the original post in less than complimentary terms. I always admired the way he kept the controlled chaos of the 'Hat Dance' moving along.
He is exactly who I was referring to. He could have done his job and caught all kinds of air time but he thought he was a celeb too and had to have his burly mug in every interview. Typical idiot that doesn't get enough attention he craves so he inserts himself into the limelight. That was one good thing about Unocal no longer sponsoring VL.
