wow, why even bother posting results of practice and race results when it comes out looking like that...Im sure things will look better in the coming week..
 
Not too sure why Kat and I couldn't copy/paste the standings this week.........I got the same results in the format as she did. Even after editing it in an email to myself!! :rolleyes: So I'm going to try a screenshot. Last time I attempted to post a picture here it didn't work (but it did work the first time). I just captured the top 12.....I think that's what most are interested in anyway. If not, take a short trip over to NASCAR.com..........probably easier that way anyway!! :)

48 points from 4th to 1st.........and only 102 points to 5th!! :) That's one race, folks for positions 1 through 4 to change drastically..........and two races for 1 through 5 to change just as drastically!! :D Ain't gonna be no "points racing" the rest of the season.......if anyone attempts that stunt, he's done!! Man, I love it!!! :beerbang: :beerbang:

I wasn't sure about the new format before...but you can't argue with the numbers...this is a GREAT Championship race!

Done, and done.
 
Yes it is a good chase. It would have also been a good chase under the old system as only 62 points would separate the top 3 drivers.

1. 24 Jeff Gordon......................4702
2. 8 Dale Jr.............................4645.........-57
3. 48 Jimmie Johnson.................4640......... -62
4. 97 Kurt Busch.......................4480......... -222
 
BUT, this isn't the "Old System", and probably never will be again.
 
My point being that it isn't necessarily the "new system" that is making the chase exciting. It would have also been exciting under the old. :)

Did you count Jr's -25 in that calculation? Just wonderin... :mellow:
 
Maybe not, but by the new system there are 6 drivers still mathmatically in the hunt.

I was TOTALLY against this new championship but have to admit it is exciting down to these last 2 races.

NASCAR lucked out though because there is no way they could have scripted Kurt's motor to blow last week and that Jr would wreck out too. Without that happening, it would still be boring.
 
I was totally against it as well, but have changed my mind even before the final 10.

True, but that's what I like most is the fact that it will be very difficult for one driver to be 'sitting pretty' for the last couple of races, and I think that was one of the main goals in implementing the change....
 
Thanks to Kat & DE for trying anyway. It's much easier than that POC Nascar site.
 
I'm still totally against it!! and even if Robby was in the top 10 i still would not like it, this is not fair to the drivers, teams, fans or even the sponchers. the 19 should not be in the top 10 right now and the 42 should be. so IMO a few of the drivers should not be on the stage in NYC in dec.
