Unsportsmanlike Conduct

NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Saints receiver Joe Horn celebrated his second touchdown against the New York Giants on Sunday by making a cell-phone call in the end zone.

After a 13-yard scoring reception in the second quarter, Horn ducked behind the goal post and took a cell phone from teammate Michael Lewis, who had pulled the phone from beneath the padding around the post.

Horn's surprising action cost the Saints 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct on the ensuing kickoff.

When Horn returned to the sideline, he was immediately confronted by Saints coach Jim Haslett, who was obviously unhappy with his receiver. Horn returned to the game on the Saints' next possession.

"It was uncalled for," Haslett told ESPN before the start of the second half. "We don't do that here.

"Obviously he'll be fined for it, and he should be fined for it."

Horn's phone call might have outdone San Francisco receiver Terrell Owens' Sharpie episode.

Owens whipped a pen from his sock after scoring a fourth-quarter touchdown in the 49ers' 28-21 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Oct. 2002. He signed the ball and handed it to his financial consultant, seated in a nearby suite.

What a classless move

I wish more players were like Marvin Harrison. Act like you've been there before gentlemen!!! Hell did ya see T.J. Duckett do a stupid dance in the endzone when the Falcons were behind 31-0 before his TD. pathetic.

I love Terrell Owens :D
I can't stand Terrell Owens, but I did think the Sharpie thing was at least funny.

The cell phone thing was just plain stupid.

It's a publicity stunt. He had to know that he'd get fined, and that it would be talked about for a few days. Kinda like what Ozzy Osbourne said after his arrest for urinating on a Memphis street, there is no such thing as bad publicity. Is Horn a free agent after this season?

At least he has a brain, unlike this guy.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Mired in the midst of a six-game losing streak, the New York Giants have shown questionable ability on the field. After Sunday's 45-7 loss to the Saints, linebacker Mike Barrow showed questionable judgment off of it.

Barrow, frustrated by New Orleans' dominance and the Giants' lack of competitiveness, used a rape analogy during a postgame interview to describe how he felt about the team's performance.

"I feel like I've been just violated," Barrow was quoted as saying in the New York Post. "I don't know what it is to be raped, not to be insensitive to people who have, but to me, this is my experience [of what it is]. It feels like they just held us down and just did whatever they wanted to us. It just felt bad."

Giants coach Jim Fassel told the newspaper that he would discuss Barrow's choice of language with him.

"Guys say things that I am sure they don't mean or don't want to say it that [way]," Fassel told the Post. "I don't know how he meant it. I am not defending it. But in his mind, he could be saying it and thinking of something else."

Saying it and thinking of something else.

LIKE WHAT??! Blueberry muffins? Puppy dogs? What else could he be thinking about? We have our newest nominee in the How Stupid A Comment Is That department.

I tell you, and people wonder why professional athletes have problems "getting along in the real world". Definitely a high caliber of folk we're dealing with here. Watch yourselves on the streets.

He got hit with a $30k fine today. I thought it was pretty funny, very original also.

The coach must not have been to mad to put him right back in the next play.

That coach has got bigger problems than Joe Horn. He has some job security issues to deal with. The Saints have an aweful lot of talent for a team that is that terribly inconsistent. If his job isn't in jeopardy, it should be.
