It was a beautiful day for racing and an even better race. This kid is only 14 but he shows a tremendous talent.

Elliott Adds His Name to List of Winchester 400 Winners

The list of winners of the Winchester 400 is long and includes some the great names in motorsports, Rusty Wallace , Mark Martin, Kyle Busch just to name a few and now Chase Elliott, at 14 becomes the youngest to win and he did it in convincing fashion beating a strong field and driving away at the end. Early it looked like Johnny VanDoorn was the man to beat taking off from the pole position to lead the first 104 laps. Tj Reaid then took the lead but Donnie Wilson was moving up fast and took over the lead on lap 112. Wilson, VanDoorn, Rick Turner traded the lead around until an accident on the 325 lap between Turner, Chuck Barnes, Jr. and Wilson gave the lead to Barnes. Elliott took the lead and held it on lap 357.

"It feels awesome to win the 400." Elliott stated. "We were just trying to be our best, and to join those names of winners feels great. The plan was to try to get to the end the best we could."

Looks like he could be a real winner. With his dad tutoring him, he just might make it to Cup level when he is 18.

IMHO, no NA$CAR license until 18 for late models etc. Then 3 years running and 21 before a license to move into trucks is issued. Then after 3 years and 24 yo before a NNW license is issued and finally at age 27, with 9 total years 'sperience a license for cup.

Going back to the old school ways of earning a ride.

Yes sir!!!! I have been saying that for a long time!!!!

I watched Chase go toe to toe with Kyle Bush this past summer at Berlin Raceway in Grand Rapids. Bill's his spotter. That kid can flat drive a car. I saw no intimidation in him at all.

I was there. That was very impressive.

Do you ever go to N.B. to watch the super mods run? That is some great racing.
