Martha Earnhardt Suffers Possible Stroke
Martha Earnhardt -- mother of NASCAR racer Dale and grandmother to Dale
Jr. -- was admitted to NorthEast Medical Center Saturday with what the
family believed to be a stroke, according to a family friend. A hospital
spokesman said she is now in good condition. The Earnhardt family matriarch
still lives in the Kannapolis home where she raised Dale, who later became
one of NASCAR's most decorated drivers. She recently attended the unveiling
of a statue in downtown Kannapolis to honor her son, who died in a crash in
the Daytona 500 in February 2001.
