Why start from scratch when teams are for sale?
A new Formula One team is under wraps in America and set to be launched officially later this month, it is reported on Wednesday.

The team, whose logo can be previewed at 'usf1.com', is fronted by F1 stalwart and broadcaster Peter Windsor, and American Ken Anderson, of IndyCar and NASCAR fame but also former Ligier Technical Director.

Briton Windsor, 56, has worked for Williams and Ferrari, but is best known today as a television pundit and writer.

The German website motorsport-total.com claims USF1 intends to make its Grand Prix debut in 2010, and already has the blessing of F1 Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone.

The team will have the slogan 'Made In America' and be headquartered in the heart of NASCAR-country in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Reportedly, an agreement to use the new Windshear wind tunnel in North Carolina is already in place, while USF1 intends to be a showcase for American technology and US-born drivers

hmm, Graham Rahal?

So i am pretty dumb when it comes to this but doesn't this mean that they have to start developing their own chassis pretty much? I assume F-1 you cant buy a chassis off another team or the other teams don't sell there technology. But i guess that would explain why they aren't gonna start till 2010?

I think in the 2010 rules and even this coming year, there will be a much watered down F-1. It probably will let you get chassis from other teams.

I'm wondering where they get the Engine from more than anything else.
Maybe Cosworth ?

its a u.s team might as well put a v8 in it lol. It will be slow as hell against those guys but it will be a us car lol

Your right about that . I follow F-1 as much as I do NASCAR, and the thing I keep coming back to is this.
The days of full time aero specialist, and full time engineers for engine development are just about over. They've frozen engine development , and the cars as of this year aren't that much more sophisticated aerodynamically than something that would have been run in CHAMP car. They're at a point where they could hire a specialist to do either for a short time. Like a Consultant.
So the price of going racing is getting cheaper there.
But Peter Windsor ? Not the guy I'm thinking of....How about Joe Gibbs or Penske ?
Maybe too old...I don't know.
Let's see if it even happens, I say. It would be great if the economy was better, and you could put the right people in there, with the the perfect combination of car and driver.
What if they used Cadillac as the engine provider ? Perfect for F-1 . High end car like Mercedes....Get enough money together to hire Edwards, and Kyle Busch to pilot them...
That's the way to do it.
I can dream...right ?

Then there's this...

USF1 Team would love to sign up Danica Patrick
16 February 2009

The all new Formula 1 team 'USF1' is hoping to enter Formula 1 in 2010 with IndyCar sensation Danica Patrick as one of its drivers. Patrick is one of the most popular drivers in IndyCar and would give the US F1 team a major boost in popularity to attract new sponsors.

The USF1 team will announce its plans 24 February and will settle down in Charlotte. There are several drivers on the short-list but Danica Patrick is high on the team's wishlist. "She's great. She gets a lot of press," USF1 technical director Ken Anderson told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Tony George would probably be pretty mad with me if I took her out of the IRL but we'll see.

"I don't know if it's something she wants to do. We'd certainly love to test her and go from there."

A number of other drivers that were rumoured to be on the USF1 team list are former Toro Rosso driver Scott Speed but also the son of former F1 driver Derek Daly, Conor Daly is being mentioned.

I would say Danica understands better than most of her fans that the only way she is seeing the inside of an F1 car is going to be for a very well publicized test. Mug for the camera, do a couple laps, then get out.

I learned years ago to never say never in auto racing. The difference between what is "possible" and what is "probable". It is possible she may be driving F1 in 2010. She will probably be driving IRL in 2010.
