USA disrespected NHRA Sport Compact TODAY

I am just trying to vent here. Today I attended the NHRA Sport Compact Event at Atco raceway. Before the start of Round 1 the announcer said please rise and take off your hat for the national anthem. As I stood up so did about 75% of the crowd. As the National Anthem played I looked around at the people sitting next to me. The Puerto Ricans were acting like it was on. They keep on speaking spanish, carrying on like nothing was happening. I am not picking out a group or stereo typing. What I saw is what was happening. I have been to other sporting events like hockey and baseball games were the Canadian athem is played. I rise and show the same respect as I do to my country's flag. What is the problem? Is it that the single star flag from an island in the ocean is more important? Everyone at the event was sharing the freedoms that our great country, USA, has provided for us. It was disrespectful and it made my stomach turn.

exodia51,
its unfortunate but a trend i have noticed at many of the local games we have went to here. many find it unimportant anymore to show respect anymore. Tis a sad world we live in.

On a better note welcome to the forums.

Isn't Puerto Rico actually a U.S. territory?

Yes, if we all had just a little more respect for others this would be a better world.

The words Please, Thank You, and Excuse me are almost extinct and sometimes when you actually say them, people think you are insulting them.
