If anyone has a trivia question, or a mystery question dealing with automobiles, add to this.

My question: What can you see 1, 2, and 4 on a car but never 3?

Probably not the right answer, but it's the first thing that popped into my head: You can see 1, 2, and 4 on the side of a stock car, but never a 3 since Earnhardt died (at least at the cup level).

No, I didn't mean race cars. This is something that you can or can't see on cars that you are behind in traffic.

Also, let me edit the original question. I didn't mean that what you could see was on the side of a car, though it could be.

Here's a few car related triva questions that I know. The answers are easy to find for anyone that knows how to use Google, but I'll assume we're on the honor system here.

#1 - When was the first speeding ticket issued, and for what speed?

#2 - For what speed the fastest speeding ticket ever issued, and what was the car?

#3 - When was the first electric car made (for use on public roads)?

#4 - Besides his racing career and inventing "British racing green" what else is William Grover-Williams famous for?

Exhaust pipes?

I don't know about "Never" Buck.

Just playing Devil's Advocate but...

How about if they were to put a cycle engine with the old OEM competition triple, or an NOS 3-1 exhaust system in a Legends car?

Didn't the GT-90 concept have 3 exhaust pipes in a triangle format?

edit, nope. even it had 4.

:p Always someone has to find a loop hole. I knew that someone would come up with something like that, but so be it. I will concede that you COULD be right. But I've never seen one. ;)

I should have put a ":)" after that one, shouldn't I?

But it was a great question.

I would have sworn that I once saw an antique car with an exhaust system that had three pipes. I know nothing like that has been built since the war but I'll do some searching. I might be dreaming, too.

Is 3 Saturn with the ev1?

Is 3 Saturn with the ev1?

Nope. You're off by more than a century. I think these might be a little hard, so I'll go ahead and post the answers.

#1 - When was the first speeding ticket issued, and for what speed?
This is sort of a trick question. The first speeding ticket was issued in 1904 in Dayton, Ohio. The driver was fined for the "breakneck" speed of 12 MPH. This is not to be confused with the first speeding arrest that happened in 1890 in New York. Also for 12 MPH.

#2 - For what speed the fastest speeding ticket ever issued, and what was the car?
The fastest speeding ticket was issued in 2003 in Texas. The violation was for going 242 MPH in a 75 MPH zone. The car was a Koenigsegg CCX that was participating in the Gumball 3000 Rally.

#3 - When was the first electric car made (for use on public roads)?
The electric car was invented by Robert Anderson of Scotland sometime between 1832 and 1839 (the exact year is uncertain). Early prototypes could only be used on electrified roads or with suspended cables (like a bumper car). In the late 1800s and early 1900s there were more electric and steam powered cars on the roads than gasoline cars.

#4 - Besides his racing career and inventing "British racing green" what else is William Grover-Williams famous for?
Besides winning the first Grand Prix of Monaco, and popularizing "British racing green", William Grover-Williams is also known for his military service during World War 2. When the Nazi's invaded France, he left for Britian. There he joined the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and returned to France to orgainize the French Resistance. He recruited fellow racers still living in Nazi occupied France, and together they conducted sabotage against the Nazi army. He was later captured by the SS and executed at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in 1945.

Researching #2, I find that this could be a fantasy. There are two different references of this happening with two different varieties of the Koenigsegg car. One says this happened in 2003 with a CCR and the other in 2006 with the CCX. One story says the driver talked his way out of the ticket while another tells of the car being towed. One thing for sure, it's expensive, fast and hot, but no as much as the Veyron from Bugatti.

Now who in the world would even try such a thing on a open highway, even an interstate?

Yeah, there is some dispute about this. For one thing, very few cars in the world are capable of reaching these speeds on a race track. On a open highway with lots of outside and uncontrolled factors (potholes, wildlife, traffic, etc)? I doubt it.

Koenigsegg claims the CCX has a top speed of 259 MPH, but no one has been able to verify it in a real world setting. It's probably just theoretical in a computer simulation.

For all we know it could have just been a publicity stunt by Koenigsegg.
