FSAE is considered a subclass of A class modified.
Erik is a current student, Kenny is from a few years back (our suspension and motor guru), Dr. Woods is a senior level professor and team director, Alejandro is a current student.
F'08 had a fuel injector mount break off, covering everything near it in fuel before Ale could shut everything else and get out. They say he made it out in approx 4.7 seconds, where rules requirement is a 5 second egress or shorter.
This was the at-track report, before all points and times were tallied.
This weekend it's off to Texas Motor Speedway with F'07 and F'08 for some autocrossing.

This week has been madness.
Yesterday started off normal enough. We worked the first heat, and I was dumb and picked the corner where everbody and their mother pegged this one cone... so I did alot of running. After that, F08 wouldn't start. Alejandro and I bummed a new starter off of KU, swapped it out... and STILL had starting issues! We did alot of push starting... Then the real fun started. On Alejandro's second run one of the fuel injector mounts broke off, and fuel started spraying all over the place. Alejandro did his best 5 second egress (without breaking the shifter) and had to get towed back to the grid. We were pretty bummed, but the SCCA, Dr. Bob, and Kenny were nice enough to let us finish all of our runs in F07. The driving ended with me in first, Kenny a very close second, Nick from KU in 3rd, Woods 4th, and Alejandro 5th. Alejandro DNF'd his first run, the car broke on his second, so he only had one run that counted. The attrition rate was high. The university formerly known as UMR broke an upright, one of KU's winged cars got the front wing ripped off on a cone (very first run) and their other winged car broke the steering column. So we all went over to KU to fix our cars. After welding our intake up, I also had to weld UMR's upright and KU's steering column. I didn't even sabotage anything!!
Today was less stressful. We put the car back togethor, and after that it was pretty flawless... but we still had starting issues. We let F08 idle pretty much the entire day, and it never overheated, and although we put gas in it, I don't think we needed too. The day ended with me in 1st overall, Kenny 2nd, Nick from KU in 3rd, Woods 4th, and Alejandro 5th. Nick was not very far off of Kenny and I although he only got 1 run each day due to car issues, he is fast!!
We're about to go to the banquet and get our awards!
Thanks to everyone on the team who helped build, and helped get the car ready for nationals. We're still the fastest!!!
