ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The principal of an elementary school in Alexandria will spend the night bundled up. He will be sleeping on the roof of his school. The principal, Brian Butler, wanted to get his students at Mount Eagle Elementary School motivated about reading. So he decided to challenge the kids to read 1,000 books.
Butler promised his students that if they reached the goal, he would spend the night sleeping on the roof of the school.
This week, the students completed that goal. And so on Friday night, after the school dance, Butler will spend the night in a tent on the roof.
The school held an assembly in the gym Friday afternoon, and the kids presented the principal with a sign saying "Goodnight Mr. Butler."
