Verizon will not return to Penske Racing as sponsors of Justin Allgaier’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Dodges in 2011 and that Allgaier has been told he is free to seek employment with other teams next season.

Verizon Out

Wow Penske is just going to let Allgair walk:confused:

Justin will have no problem finding a seat. IMO, he's better than 2/3 of the current field fillers.

He will find alot of problems I belive. Unless Nascar regulates the number of cup guys in each race I dont see anyway this can help him. His best bet might be to sign a deal with Braun Racing as I have heard they may be getting rid of Jason Leffler.

Guess it's more important to have that Cup driver race in the minor leagues since he can't win in Cup than it is to groom new talent for the Cup Series.

Well that F'ing sucks. I hope he gets on somewhere competitive.

When an organization such as Penske can't get sponsorship for a talent like Allgaier, something's headed to the tank.

I think he'll have little problem finding a ride, though.

Dang Roger Penske, put a yellow wrapper with Penske on the side of the car to keep him. I bet he ends up in the Junior 88 car next year. Heck maybe Junior 88 cup race.

When an organization suck as Penske can't get sponsorship ......

Don't you think that that is the reason so many Cup guys race in Nationwide? You need the names to drag in the few sponsorship dollars that are out there. If you take away the cup guys, you will reduce the field by that number. And before you say how much better that would be, you would also reduce the TV coverage.

I suppose that plays a large part in it and keep in mind that I'm not one of those who complains about cup regulars in the lower ranks. In fact, I completely agree with it - to a point.

Nascar would never allow it unfortunatly but Justins dad is an owner in Hoosier Race Tires. It would be cool if he could pick them up and atleast have a sponsor to advertise himself to owners.

Goodyear will never let that happen.

I think this is more of a result of the Nationwide purses being cut by 20% next year. I expect a few more teams to also not field cars next year.

Reading the article makes it sound like Penske is trying to secure funding for the car and they did not comment on whether or not Allgaier is a free agent or not. Version is pulling out because of NASCAR's relationship to Sprint and not because of a lack of performance or dissatisfaction of the team. I just hope that they can find proper sponsorship for him to continue his development with the team.

So Sprint is forcing sponsors out of the Nationwide Series. That's BULLCHIT.

Allgaier out at Penske? Looking for ride?: Sources tell Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody that Verizon will not return to Penske Racing as sponsors of Justin Allgaier's NASCAR Nationwide Series Dodges in 2011 and that Allgaier has been told he is free to seek employment with other teams next season. Verizon will reportedly remain with Penske Racing next season, increasing its level of involvement with the team's IndyCar program. "It's true that they're evaluating their NASCAR investment right now," said Penske Racing Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jonathan Gibson, "and it's true that they may increase their involvement with our IndyCar program." Gibson said the team is talking with other companies about potentially replacing Verizon next season, adding, "Our intent to continue with two Nationwide Series entries next season." He declined to comment on reports that Algaier has been given permission to look elsewhere, but called him, "A great young driver who we would like to keep in our organization." Gibson said Verizon has had "issues surrounding their ability to activate the sponsorship in light of Sprint's involvement in the sport. Verizon has been hindered in what they can do," he said. "They can't do much (at the tracks) and they can't do anything with Sprint Cup Series drivers, which is difficult. They've been very creative in what they have done, and they would like to do more. It's not the perfect world they'd like to play in, but Sprint obviously does a lot for the sport, so it is what it is."(Sirius Speedway) supposedly Verizon also sponsored the #12 Dodge of Brad Keselowski in the Sprint Cup Series, but only in color and design, no Verizon decals were allowed to be displayed, with the decals saying Penske instead. AAA, Dodge and other sponsors have also sponsored the car.(9-14-2010)

Get rid of Hornish, and put Jason in the 77. Fairly obvious solution if you ask me.

Can't be any less prepared than Logano was.......and he's already got more talent than Hornish.

Your first poit: I felt that Logano should have one more season in nationwide but I see why they did it, didn't want to waste the 20 car on a Mears or someone like that and lose Home Depot.

Your second point: With a stock car, yes, very true. Hornish needs to go back to IRL and be a competitive driver gain, the experiment in NASCAR has failed. Again.

How about this

UPDATE: While Penske Racing is keeping mum on Verizon leaving the NASCAR side of the program and Justin Allgaier's status for next season, sources say don't be surprised if Sam Hornish Jr. ends up in a Nationwide Series ride as Brad Keselowski's teammate in 2011 (FoxSports)(9-17-2010)

So Justin to cup and Sam to Nationwide????

With Sprint being the "official phone" and paying the big bucks for naming rights in cup I'm surprised it took this long for Verizon the get the boot.

Why should they get the boot from the nationwide series? Sprint has nothing to do with that series.

Sprint is the "Official Whatever You call It" of NA__AR." Once more, the exclusivity clause in the contract bites competition right in the ass!
