Very important question

I bought NT2003 last year. All this time I have been trying to figure out how to slow down the computer generated speed of all the cars except mine.
Since buying NASCAR Thunder 2003, I bought DirtTrack3, NASCAR Racing 2003.
NR2003 plays like agame should play. I win, I lose. Same with DirtTrack3. I win I lose.
But with Thunder, I CAN'T compete at all. I come in last every single time. Every other car laps me continuously.
I don't stand a chance. Tweaking my car in the garage in out of the question. The only answer is to figure out a way to slow down all the other cars.
Anyone know how to do this.???
The format, graphics, "everything", about NASCAR Thunder is fabulous and plays and looks beautiful except the speed of the other cars.
I would love to buy Thunder 2004 but paying $50 if I can't stay up with any other car AGAIN would be stupid, wouldn't it?

Check the EA message boards. Personally I feel you went wrong when you bought the EA brand instead of the Papyrus 2003 version. The Papyrus simulations is heads above what EA can offer, shame 2003 was their last year.

I've been trying the EA message boards and every board about NASCAR I can locate and no one either has an answer or simply ignores my question.
Yes, I have always supposed buying Thunder 2003 was a mistake and I'm assuming 2004 won't be any better. Paprus rules as far as NASCAR is concerned.
But the differences in the games in many ways would be a change of pace & I'd like to play both if possible.
^_^

Well I dont have the EA version but maybe you can try lowering the difficulty level. Thats the only solution I can think of.

Lowering the difficulty level was my first option but it isn't the same as it is in Paprus, that is, you can't adjust the opponent's level, like in Paprus, = Racing 2003 you can lower the opponent dificulty to 70%.
There is no such option in Thunder, only your own difficulty settings.
The opponent cars fly & you can only adjust your own settings so much but not near enough to fly with the eagles.
I can't locate anyone at EA or other Forums to address this question/problem!!

You go into options and you can slow down the AI on the computer cars

I have always had this AI slider all the way to the left and it makes no difference!!
Also, I'll bet I installed & deleted this game 50 times so it isn't an instalaltion ploblem. It's in the software.

p.s. Breakfast isn't breakfast without Cheerios :D

but there is a group called project wildfire who are doing addons fo rthe game, that includes busch trucks and transam series, plus they will release new tracks, should make the game playable for along time, also to those who are thinking about buying a racing game, go with nascar2003 by papyrus, dave blaney's lead engineer help design the game so it would be as realistic as possible

It is. The only problem I have encountered in my Papyrus 2003 game is that the drafting speeds at the restrictor plate tracks gets up to around 208mph!

Not to change the subject, its been a while since I have played any nascar games, although good and all.

I am with the Grand Prix 3 crowd.

But my question is, has anyone played the EA version of GP2000 season for Playstaion? The graphics, (for three years ago) are great as well as the realism, but I have the opposite problems of you, I lap the Al cars usually at least 17 times in a full race distance. Now talk about boring. And thats on as hard as you can get. I have always wanted an F1 game that I run wheel to wheel and have an actual race with Al cars that arent dumb.

I think these design companies have got the graphics and feel down pat, but come on, improve the Al cars. The whole point to be racing and having fun.

I've been a big fan of both games, Thunders kinda easy but at the same time It'll take some tweaking the engineunrestricted.ini file on whichever driver you're going to play. Personally I like NR2003 because it's much easier to paint cars, you have the realism which goes into it in terms of Physics. There are actually Busch Grand National and Craftsman Truck mods that people are making for it.

i think i read that the patch coming out for that is addressign that

try turning off the breaking help & setting the TC (traction control) on low.

Hey I'm interested in starting a NASCAR Racing Season 2003 Online League, anyone wanna join in?

Me, I'll join. I cant online race until that damn patch comes out though.

Arright.

For the patch, theres a beta patch 1.1.0.2 available at http://www.theuspits.com . I am using it right now but it cant be used online. I recommend it for anyone who wants to download the Busch Grand National Mod available from Project Wildfire.

Some of the developers lied to the NR2003 community, they said 1.1.0.2 would be the final version of the patch, however now I'm hearing they've done a complete 180 and the final version of the patch is going to be 1.2.0.0. Whatever it's going to be, we need the patch out and quick.
