We are at race 10. Out of those ten races, Vickers has been wrecked by another driver in 5 of them. At Phoenix by Kenseth, at Talladega by Kurt Busch(who also took out Kasey Kahne and...alot of other folks), big one at Daytona, and a large pileup at Bristol. And of course today at Darlington by Juan Pablo Montoya.

The sad thing is, he was running well at Phoenix, Talladega(the two Red Bull cars were both very fast when pushing eachother), and qualified well and was holding his own tonight in Virginia.

In the 5 remaining races, he has 3 top 10s and an average finish of 12th.

So, is he the most hard luck driver so far this year?

You could say the same for his teamate just as well.

Yeh tough one there, maybe lure Kasey away from Hendrick ? Longshot but it seem Kasey likes racing for this team.

kk's already under contract with hendrick. i doubt either want to change that. edwards and bowyer are the only top drivers not signed atm that i can think of. maybe bring somebody up from nationwide? i don't think vickers will be let go.

Well I would have added Smith to the list of hardluck this year, but as we all know that changed so Vickers and Ragan have had by far the worst luck this year, along with Logano who everyone seems to be wrecking.

I expect to see Mark Martin in one of the Red Bull cars next year.

Vickers definitely has had a run of bad luck this season, but then that's been pretty much the story of his Cup career.

In another Forum I frequent someone mentioned that during the race last night someone in the booth (probably DW) stated that Red Bull was on record as saying that they were putting all their efforts this season toward making Kahne have a successful season. Did anyone here hear that? If it is so then this is deja vu for Vickers all over again. Second string at Hendrick and now second string again at Red Bull?

So, his place in the standings compared to his team mate might be partly be design?

I heard that to, my take on it though is the 4 car this year is nothing but the old 82/84 car that has never been the top team there, the 83 team is a past chase car and winner so by making the 4 car win it makes them into a 2 car team with two cars that have won. I personally think Vickers will be back still where else is he going to go thats comparable?

One thing I truly believe Red Bull needs to do is start its own engine and chassis program. Dietrich Mateschitz has more than enough money to do it and their open wheel designs are among the best out there. The stuff they get from TRD is decent, but when compared to teams with in house programs like Hendrick, Gibbs, and Roush they just seem to be a step below.

As for Red Bull admitting that they are putting all their resources into the #4 and Kasey Kahne...thats just kind of shady.

I still haven't heard anyone verify that was actually said during the race. Did any of you folks who watched the thing from green to checkers hear this too, or was this a figment of someone's imagination? I think if it was said, and it is actually the truth, in any major degree, it's says a lot about what has become of the sport.

I think this happens all the time with multi car teams, nothing new there.

Yeah but I have always thought it was kind of strange that Red Bull would kick Speed out of his ride to put Kahne in for just one season. It's also strange that this is obviously some sort of backdoor deal with Hendrick but Red Bull runs Toyota's? I guess that it's some sort of agreement that Martin will jump over to Red Bull, which I guess is a good deal.

I'm just having a hard time seeing Mark Martin fit into the Red Bull image.

I've been thinking the same thing. Red Bull gets out of ownership and their contract with Toyota, then sponsors a driver running Hendrick equiptment. It could be Vickers or someone else.
