It looks like Vitor Meira and Nelson Piquet Jr. will be testing a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series truck for Red Horse Racing on October 12th. This will be a 1 day test. It will be thier first time behind the wheel of a NASCAR vehicle.

They will be testing Toyota trucks at Rockingham Speedway.

I knew Nelson Piquet was thinking of moving to NASCAR but now I wonder if Vitor isnt thinking the same thing.

Maybe that accident at Indy mad Vitor consider Nascar. I remember Dario did the same thing after he had those two major accidents a few years back. Anyway Vitor is one of my faviorate Indycar drivers and i will root for him regardless of where he races.

Yes, I too like Vitor. I dont think he will make a full switch but we will wait and see.

I don't think this will end well. I'm not doubting the skills of open-wheel drivers, but it's a completely different form of racing that requires different skills.

For one thing, the cars in IRL and F1 are designed to be easy to drive. The challenge comes not from the car, but from the track. In NASCAR it's the opposite. A "stock car" is just a 800hp engine, on four wheels, and a shifter. Open-wheel drivers are used to their cars being responsive.

Then there's the problems of oval tracks. Miera will probably adapt better than Piquet since IRL races on ovals. But it's going to be a challenge for someone who is used to road courses, and aiming for the shortest way around the track. When the car starts to slide up through the middle of the turn, they're not going to be used to it.

Of these two Miera probably has the better chance of adjusting to the new form of motorsport.
