Wah, Wah, Wah?

The only ones in need of a wahmbulance are a few so-called fans around here who don't seem to think all drivers involved in a wreck deserve attention. Not only is it sad that reporters can get to a guy before medical help can, but even sadder is that "fans" don't really think it's that important for someone to get help. I really wonder how perky and chipper these "fans" would be after being involved in that wreck...gee, maybe what their wives or kids would think of the whole situation. I'm sure Matt's wife and family thought he was being a crybaby too. What this says to me is that these "fans" don't really value the safety of the drivers out there risking their lives every week for our entertainment. Sure, the winner gets money, but no amount of money in the world is worth losing someone over, I'm sure the Earnhardt family would agree, I'm sure the Petty family would agree, but I guess around here, some "fans" just think a driver with a concern for their own safety is crying. Maybe professional wrestling would be better suited for your "fanhood" where the danger is only imagined (and don't go all Owen Hart on me) instead of sport where the danger is REAL, and probably more REAL than I face on my way to work any given morning. GET REAL!

Well, defending the medical crew, all I need to say is this...are they going to worry so much about a driver that is walking around or a driver that is still inside the car? Need to think a little bit about that one.

I'm not saying a single thing about the medical crew...just saying that to criticize a driver for being concerned about a lack of medical attention is just plain ridiculous, shows a total lack of respect for the drivers.

Agree with you about that. I just don't like it when people get after the medical crew, not saying you did or anything, when they don't realize how hard it really is.

Did Matt have his window net down? If he did then I would think that the rescue crews would be worrying about the cars that didn't have their nets down or that appeared to be in more need of help. I do think Nascar needs to upgrade on rescue crews, but this might not be all their fault either.

ok, i'm just curious but, how many medical people are there? I mean 15 or so cars were wrecked and so the medical team sure couldn't reach everyone quickly.. and i wonder would they have reached everyone quicker had everyone stayed near the accident or close to their cars?

Matt has a valid point to complain about, then remember it is NASCARS rule that if a car has to be towed it is "MANDETORY" that the drivers ride in the ambulance to the care center to be checked out. How many crew members are in the emergency crews? In a case like Sunday wouldn't it be prudent for 1 crewman to head for each car to asses the situation of the driver? Just because a driver drops his net does not mean he is really ok, he could have still had his bell rung pretty hard and reflex drops the net and thinks he's okay. That's why it is a mandatory ride, to make certain he is okay.

Dropping the window net and walking from the crash are two different things.

The emergency crews differ for track to track. At California Speedway, if I remember correctly, they only had about 4-5 ambulances and about the same number of the little golf carts with the stretcher on the back. All of these vehicles aren't always just sitting in the corners waiting for an accident. If something happens in the stands, they respond. If something happens in the infield, they respond. I think you'd be surprised to know how many people break arms or have heart attacks at the races. I probably could imagine they (Dover medical staff) would have about the same number of ambulances, if not fewer, than California Speedway.

Lets just face it, its just impossible to have as many ambulances as there are cars on the track. If a driver is up and walking around and there are still other drivers in their cars...guess where their priorities are?

wow, i think my point was totally missed...oh well
I don't think you point is being overlooked at all. Kenseth has a right to express his feelings about his safety. But if he wasn't walking around and was still inside his car, the safety crew would have been there as fast as they can. But since he was outside his car and walking around, they decided to help the drivers that might actually really need them.

no my point was that people who call themselves fans of this sport shouldn't consider someone a crybaby for worrying about their own well being...if you can walk away from a wreck, freakin' walk away, the damn thing might blow up, doesn't matter if you have a concussion or something, get the hell away from the vehicle...unless you CAN'T get out that is. I just don't think it is in good taste to say that one of the drivers is a baby because hes upset...safety issues? whole different topic.

Well I guess I just got a different message somehow. But anyhoo, you're right. That kinda of crap isn't really needed anywhere.
