Gordon and Smith To Wall of Fame
Four-time NASCAR Cup champion Jeff Gordon and Speedway Motorsports Chairman and CEO Bruton Smith are scheduled to be inducted into Infineon Raceway's Wall of Fame June 23. The ceremony will take place in the Wine Country Winner's Circle, located behind the track's main grandstand. Gordon, a native of nearby Vallejo, Calif., has a track-record four career NASCAR Cup wins at Infineon, including consecutive victories from 1998-2000. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has finished no worse than third in eight of his 13 career starts at the 1.99-mile road course.

"I love racing on road courses, and we've had a lot of success there," Gordon said in a release from the track. "It's an honor to be inducted into the Wall of Fame, especially at a track where we have a tremendous amount of support from fans, friends and family."

Smith has funneled approximately $70 million dollars into the facility since buying the track in 1996, and has made it the country's premier road-course venue. Infineon is one of six SMI-owned facilities across the country that host NASCAR Cup events.

"I am honored to be included," Smith said, "and it's wonderful to be inducted with Jeff Gordon. He has done a lot of great things for our sport and is someone I greatly admire. I am proud of the improvements we've made to this great facility and the work we've done in helping build the NASCAR fan base in the area."(Scene Daily)
