"Idea No. 2 involves fixing the problem at the second Talladega race. You know, when drivers spent most of the 500-mile event lined up single file after NASCAR threatened to punish them for bump-drafting, particularly two-car bump-drafts through the corner.

Waltrip, one of 15 drivers who met with NASCAR to discuss potential changes, proposes that the governing body award a point for each lap led."

That would definatly change how Dega and Daytona are raced I think.

With computerized scoring now in play, they should aware points to all positions for each lap. That will keep drivers from sandbagging. I've been saying that for years.

Then what kind of points system would you have, would you eleiminate the "chase"?

I do like the lexan spoiler though.Mods run them. Vision might not be crystal clear but being able to see through the car in front might give you just enough time to avoid a wreck.

agreed

The problem with Lexan is it will easily break at the speeds they race when they hit the wall. But aluminum will wad up too, so it's which is the lesser of two evils.

The windshield is made out of Lexan and they hold up real well. At least with a Lexan spoiler you could see hand signals from the driver in front of you.

Change it for the better or worse?

Better for the pure fact that you will have more guys taking chances and trying to get up front and not just riding around for 3/4 of the race.

But worse because of the same reason as I mentioned above, there would be many more accidents. Either way it would get more people watching the entire race.

I dunno, I don't watch races for the wreck, I watch them for the competition. So, I am in the fence about this, on one hand I'd like to see more competition at the plate tracks, but on the other hand, I don't want to see more wrecks.

I don't want to see more wreck either but unfortunately we all know a lot of people watch racing just because of that. Especially superspeedways. I would love to see more competition at plate tracks and bonus points would really ramp it up. But to me wrecks just ruin the flow of a good race at those tracks.

competing hard and wrecks usually go hand in hand in nacsar. between harder competition (even with wrecks) and single file running i'll take the harder competition every time. i'll bet the drivers would agree with me. they know the risks and are willing to take them.
