- Ward Burton and crew chief Tommy Baldwin could be back together again if talks with car owner Ray Evernham prove fruitful, according to Dodge sources. However, Baldwin denies any such plans are in the works with Evernham. Burton will likely leave car owner Bill Davis at the end of the season, but Dodge wants to keep the 2002 Daytona 500 winner in the Dodge fold.

- On the Richard Childress front, Childress, according to sources, would like to hire Ward Burton, but sponsor AOL would prefer a younger driver. Burton is 42. 'We don't know what we'll do,' Childress said. The time frame for a decision: 'The next couple of weeks.'

I would agree with going with someone younger too. Not that 42 is old........cuz then by age I would be an antique!!!

I would really like to see Ward in the AOL car. But I don't own the car.

I would really like to see him in the #1 car, but I dont see it happening. I also would like to see him in the #30 as second, 3rd I would want him at Evernham, and finally to stay where he is allready at...BDR.

I know Ward and Tommy argued alot but things got done, At least Tommy would listen to Ward where Frankie thinks he knows everything.

I dont see Ward going to the #30. RC is known to do what sponsors want. When Cingular came on board the #31 they specifically asked for Robby to be the driver, RC complied. The #30 and AOL havent had a good showing at all in Nascar, and with next season being a contract renewal season for AOL, I think RC will comply with any requests that AOL has. Especially in this day and age when sponsors are so hard to come by.

It could possibly leave the door open for a Cup ride for Johnny Sauter next year since AOL is looking for young talent in the RCR 30.
