Ward Burton Contract Non-Renewed; NetZero Will Follow Burton. But, To Where?: Ward Burton, who learned his contract with the No. 0 Haas CNC Racing Chevrolet will not be renewed, is a man of principle, so it's not surprising that he would contemplate retirement rather than suffer the humiliation of finding a ride with a second-rate Cup team. "I still want to drive, and I know I can still win races," Burton says. His sponsor, NetZero HiSpeed, thinks so, too, and will follow him if he signs with another team. But the problem is simple: The seats of the cars capable of winning are filled. Jason Leffler has been rumored to be moving into the No. 0, and his name also has been mentioned in connection with the new No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing ride. If Leffler graduates from the Busch Series to Cup, it's possible that truck series driver David Starr could join Haas CNC Racing. . . .

Ward has always been a favorite of mine. I really hope he gets a good ride with a decent team. I have always felt he has more talent than several guys in the high profile teams do. Unfortunately for him most team owners want young drivers who may have "potential" but usually don't pan out.

If I were an owner I would certainly want to have his experience in my driver's seat. But, I am not an owner so he may not get a chance at all. And that would be a shame. :(

The 31 may could come open. That would be cool. Jeff and Ward on the same team.

Jeff and Ward made it quite plain one time in an interview that they did NOT want to drive for the same owner. LOL Brothers will be etc. LOL

But think on this. How about REM???? Ray could handle a 3rd car easily, and with the sponsors coming with Ward, makes it such a deal!!!!

Think on this too............................What happens to Frankie Stoddard???????

I like both of the Burton brothers and hope to see them raicng in Nascar for quite a few years yet.

Frank Stoddard isn't with Ward anymore. Hasn't been for quite awhile now.

You never know what car may become available.........it's still a few months to February!! :) I can see the 31 becoming available and Richard Childress is pretty good at persuasion!! If he's bringing a sponsor with him, I think Ward's in a pretty good negotiating position.......not too many sponsors follow a driver.

Ward Burton might retire... becuase i heard Dave Blaney or Ricky Craven in the #31 car in 2005

I'd have to pick Ward over Blaney or Craven. If, for no other reason, it would be for his plain old likability. He at least as good a driver as those two.......and I can't think of anyone who doesn't like Ward Burton.
