Here are these weeks’ results after Michigan…
Biggest Jump Up = +14 #20 Tony Stewart
Biggest Fall Down = -8 #22 Ward Burton
1. (1) #17 Matt Kenseth---AVG. 4
For the second week in a row, Matt has led the Hot & Cold Series. The 17 team is very consistent with finishes of 2, 3, 4, and 7th!
2. (2) #18 Bobby Labonte---AVG. 6.25
Bobby has the same average as last week, If he could just get the win instead of the 2nd’s!!
3. (3) #24 Jeff Gordon---AVG. 6.5
Now Jeff has gone from 4th, to 3rd, to 3rd, to 3rd again…I am beginning to think that he will be 3rd the rest of the year!!
4. (6) #15 Michael Waltrip---AVG. 11.25
Waltrip once again surprises me and moves 2 up from where he was last week! This guy really is strutting his stuff now…
5. (4) #2 Rusty Wallace---AVG. 11.5
He lost a spot in this weeks Hot & Cold but stayed the same in the points. Rusty is finally squeezing in the points standings, and If Matt Kenseth messes up, and Rusty stays consistent, who knows maybe Rusty is the champ of 2003!?
6. (10) #5 Terry Labonte---AVG. 12
“Texas Terry” has had 3 straight top 10 finishes, and is hopefully back to the old Terry we all used to know!
7. (5) #12 Ryan Newman---AVG. 13
Newman jumped up to 5th after not even making the top 30. Now Newman falls down 2 spots, but his health is much more important after that fiery wreck!
8. (22) #20 Tony Stewart---AVG. 13.25
Tony’s bad luck, for right now, is over and the #20 Home Depot team is becoming more and more consistent, as well as competitive.
9. (12) #40 Sterling Marlin---AVG. 13.5
Sterling is still a serious contender for the 2003 championship, even though Kenseth is so far ahead of Dale Jr. and the rest of the Winston Cup circuit.
10. (8) #99 Jeff Burton---AVG. 14.25
The #99 team lost one position but still has improved very much from the beginning of the year.
11. (7) #6 Mark Martin---AVG. 14.5
Mark has fallen out of my top 10, but still is hanging in there, now in the top 10 in Winston Cup Series Points.
12. (10) #8 Dale Earnhardt Jr. ---AVG. 15.75
For the first time in my Hot & Cold history Dale Earnhardt Jr. is no longer in the top 10.
13. (16) #48 Jimmie Johnson---AVG. 16.75
Jimmie has tied with Kurt Busch this week. I know I have not heard that much from Jimmie Johnson lately…he is staying quiet but yet sneaking up there…
13. (18) #97 Kurt Busch---AVG. 16.75
Kurt and the 97 team won at Michigan and that really helped them move back up a ways…Kurt is still a very strong bid for the title this year!
15. (25) #32 Ricky Craven---AVG. 17.75
Ricky has been looking better on the track. He has been around the top 10 a lot more lately.
16. (9) #31 Robby Gordon---AVG. 19
Robby is another one of those guys who now seems to be kind of quiet, but on the prowl.
17. (14) #10 Johnny Benson---AVG. 19.75
The Valvoline Pontiac should be more towards the front, but hasn’t had the finishes capable for a top 10 spot in the points.
18. (17) #29 Kevin Harvick---AVG. 20.75
The 29 car is now no longer in the top 10 points. He only fell one position in this weeks rankings, so he hasn’t done too badly!
18. (15) #54 Todd Bodine---AVG. 20.75
Todd was well on his way to a top 10 finish at Michigan when he had troubles on the track. He has lost 3 positions in the Hot & Cold this week.
20. (24) #42 Jamie McMurray---AVG. 21
McMurray is now the only rookie on the list!! All of the others have been COLD!
21. (13) #22 Ward Burton---AVG. 21.25
Ward…well…the pit crew ruined his day while he was on his way to a top 15…
22. (23) #9 Bill Elliott---AVG. 22.75
Awesome Bill has lost some luster that he used to have, unless he gets things turned around, I can only see him going down…
23. (NR) #19 Jeremy Mayfield---AVG. 23
Mayfield hasn’t done much for the Evernham team but get a pole. In order to stick around and have a good career, you have to have top 10’s, and 5’s.
24. (18) #25 Joe Nemechek---AVG. 23.5
Nemechek does have a win this year, but really needs more top 10’s…more than wins that is…
25. (NR) #38 Elliott Sadler---AVG. 23.75
Elliott was having a pretty good day again, but It all got screwed up at some point!?!?
