Warning about Nationwide broadcast on Friday

Drinking game

Every time Rick Allen says "x number of laps of racing to go" (assuming he can finish the sentence), drink a shot of whiskey.

Every time Rick Allen says, "in to the wall he goes", drink a glass of rum.

Every time Rick Allen is interrupted before being able to complete a sentence, drink a shot of tequila.

You should be wasted by lap 12.

So the race is on SPEED, huh? Look's like ESPN's and ESPN2's plate is full with the NFL draft and NBA playoffs. News to me. Thank's for the head's up. (Anyone else remember in the early 90's when the Martinsville Cup race would pre-empted by the NFL draft and would be shown immediately after, and on one occasion, Monday night? Thankfully, there now exist other channels to broadcast the race.)

I don't have a problem with this broadcast crew. I like the Waltrips. The only criticism I have is with Rick Allen at times trying to make a dull Truck race finish sound exciting. It's ok, Rick. Just call it like you (and I) see it. They can't all be barnburners.

Remember the 1995 Brickyard 400? It rained all day and the race started in the evening. Because it was so late, ABC had already signed off the air and the race was not shown live... didn't air until Noon the next day.

And people bytch and whine about missing 10 minutes of NASCAR Nationwide Series Countdown because of College Football.

The Martinsville race when Sosa and McGwire were both trying to get the home run record... ESPN interrupted the race every single time one of those guys was on the plate and would show their at bats then go back to the race. That was nothing short of infuriating.

Yeah, I remember now. Same for 1996 Talladega. You know, Earnhardt's big flip and t-bone on the frontstretch. Started raining, but the race did get re-started. CBS aired it a week later, when Cup had a break.

I hardly ever watch the pre-race shows, so any interruptions there wouldn't bother me. The race itself - different story.

Not as of now he's not.

No KB! That's interesting. I hadn't seen that until you said something. I guess he's trying to give Carl a chance to gain ground on him? ;) Oh well, I still bet they'll find a way to get his name into the conversation several times during the broadcast.

Yeah I was surprised when I saw the news as well. JGR put Kelly Bires in the #18 this week and I figured KB would just move over to the #20 but Hamlin is in that one. I guess Kyle is taking the week off but I'm hoping he's getting tired of the Nationwide races and takes more of them off.

more likely he doesn't mind spending more time with his wife. who knows, he may decide he likes spending more time with his wife better than racing in 3 series.
