FDIC Email Scam
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you get an official-looking email from the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation (FDIC) -- including the FDIC logo --
telling you that the Department of Homeland Security has
suspended insurance on your bank account due to suspected
violations of the Patriot Act (which is the US anti-terrorism
law), don't respond!

This is just another attempt to get access to your personal
information.

The email, of course, asks the recipient to provide lots of
personal information, including bank account information. It
also includes a link to a bogus website that supposedly belongs
to the FDIC (it doesn't).

If you receive this email, you can contact the real FDIC at
[email protected] for further information.

Damn always somebody trying to run a scam....ticks me off!!! Thanks for the info!

These guys are getting good...

I got one saying my PayPal account was accidentally deleted due to server problems and to go to "this" webpage and re-enter my information.

The page looked completely real. Logos, real professional etc....

Well I've never HAD a PayPal account so I knew it was a hoax, but I'm sure plenty of people plopped their credit card #'s in that page....

My rule of thumb is never respond to something sent to over email. If you think Micrsoft has an update, go to microsoft.com and find it from there rather than clicking on a random link.

Everyone HAS to send me $5 bucks for this info.......

(ok, maybe I'm not real good at scams....) :)
