Sorry for posting this on the Podium and here, but if I can save one person the harassment we have been putting up with all because of my ignorance it will be worth it.

!!!!!!! WARNING !!!!!!!

Okay! To say the least, I'm mad! Here's the deal, and I am relating this and showing my stupidity to save others a similar problem.

Yesterday, three phone calls from Bank of America! Today, four phone calls from Bank Of America!
Why do I get these? Well, two years ago, I went to a BoA secure website to get rates for a refinance with a low interest mortgage. Part of the application process asked for my telephone number and a box asking if BoA and/or their associates could call to offer their services. Stupid me! I checked the box thinking, how bad could it be?

Since then, we have been inundated with solicitation calls from security alarm companies at the rate of two a day for weeks on end. BoA calling and asking for the last 4 digits of my social security number. This is now bordering on harassment and began nearly a year and a half ago increasing each month to the point it is now. And the worse part is, I have no one to blame but myself!

So today, I went to the local branch of a BoA office and explained the situation to the assistant manager. She went online, something I had tried to do but could not get to the proper location and, according to her, removed my name from the call list(s). The downside is, it will take thirty days to remove my name and phone number from the call list and mail solicitations (sorry Buckaroo. We all know how much you love that junk mail.) The problem is, I gave permission and accept responsibility. The warning is, do not check the box.

Failure to give permission will not affect your application. Don't fall into the trap I did. Be smarter! And no, it isn't a scam. Bank of America is looking to make low interest mortgages (3.22% for thirty year mortgage. They post that rate at branch offices ) to qualified mortgage holders so they can say they are selling mortgages.

Be smarter than me. Take an old mans advice! Do not ever give anyone permission to solicit you via telephone.

Why should you have to PAY to change your number? The do not call registry is a joke. Tell someone you're on it and they hang up so you can't get info to report them.
My brother and I talked about this recently, seems he's somehow been added to a list.
My brother flat out doesn't care, if it's a live call and a woman he starts asking what's she wearing, does she buy her undergarment at Fredericks or Victorias, would she mail him some used items, he just goes on and on until she hangs up. If a guy he asks about his prostrate and viagra use, tells how he put his wife in the hospital by OD'ing on the blue pills. That the price of prostitutes is getting so high normal guys can no longer afford them. He says very seldom does he ever get another call from them.:)
I asked about obscenity laws, he says they call him, not his problem.
