Was the Teacher Right or Wrong?

Who's running the show. I always thought it was the teachers. Back in the Olden Days when I was in school the teacher would not only have stopped it, but corporal punishment woud have handed down.
 
This is a prime example of what is wrong with country these days. The teacheer should of stepped in and put a stop to it. Back in my school days kids would of never thought to do something like that in the classroom. It was settled on the playground and usually that was the end of it. Teachers back in my day not only would of ended it quickly, but would of made sure the kids' parents were made to pick him up right away. That was usually worse than anything the teacher could hand down.
 
Something's not right. The kid who got hit stands there, hands down and not even looking while the other shadow boxes him. After taking two shots to the head he still has his hands down by his side. Then, is that a smirk as he passes in front of the camera as he leaves?

Comments about the teacher. I think this was a set up and he was in on it. If not he should be fired for not stopping this before the real punches were thrown

You could be on to something there, I saw the smirk too, it was an odd video the more i think about it.
 
I think SST is right. No sound, the smirk. I think this was most likely a pre-staged thing.
 
Watch the second report. The students filmed a lot more than just a few punches, and there's sound on and off. There's no way someone was just videotaping this prior to the fight breaking out.

If this wasn't staged, the teacher should be fired because there's clearly no control in his classroom (students fighting, cell phones out, etc).
 
The teacher has been put "on leave" and has had this problem before in his classroom.

DALLAS — Michael Hinojosa, the superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District, is publicly speaking out for the first time after a series of videos aired on News 8 showing fights inside Seagoville High School.

"Obviously, it's a very disturbing video," Hinojosa said. "That's unacceptable behavior in any of our classrooms. I'm very disturbed about the actions and the incidents that occurred in the classroom."

The superintendent said he was angered by the videos that show students punching other teenagers inside a classroom on two separate occasions.

Both fights happened in the classroom of math teacher Lindale Muse.

In one video clip, a shirtless student removes his shorts, apparently preparing for a fight. As the students square off, the camera pans to show Muse, 54, standing behind a podium and watching.

"We are focusing on that one classroom at this time," Hinojosa said.

The superintendent has demanded an expedited investigation, while Muse, 54, remains on extended administrative leave.

When reached by phone Tuesday, the math teacher denied that he allowed fighting in his class.

"Teachers are not responsible for breaking up fights," Muse said. "It's under investigation. I can't comment on it."

The superintendent would not say how long the district's investigation would last.

"We always follow due process," Hinojosa said. "Every employee has the opportunity to be heard."

I found myself in the middle of a couple.

In fact, one time I had to break up a girl fight for my own safety... two girls were arguing on the bus (one was like 5'9" 190lbs. and the other was 5'6" 110lbs., I think we all know how that one was destined to end). One was sitting in front of me and the other behind me. I ignored it until the headphones on my CD player (2004, iPods weren't cheap yet) couldn't go any louder... and I knew the one smaller girl was talking herself in to a real asswhooping. Anyways, we all started getting off and I was still in between them as they were getting off -- so when the first punch was thrown, I just pushed the smaller girl away until a couple other people could stop the bigger girl from whipping her ass.

As far as when guys get in fights at schools, it's typically best to let them have at it. Every fight I got in at school, well, we'd just call it even and be best friends the next day... same trend I noticed anytime two guys got in a fight. But we had a lot of girl fights at school and they're just vicious.

One day at lunch in the cafeteria, there was a ****ing massive brawl. One fight broke out at one end of the cafeteria, followed up by two more. Then everyone was getting in fights -- had to call the police department out to break it up.

My favorites are when the 260lbs. people pick a fight with someone much smaller and end up on the losing end. :lol2:
 
Bets fight I ever saw was a bar fight between 2 "ladies" fighting over a guy. It was amusingly vicous. Hair pullling, scratching, shirt ripping......... the usual stuff.

Girl fights are always entertaining.

Best bar fight I ever witnessed... I was at the bar with a few friends watching the Redskins game (this was a couple years ago). Redskins were losing as usual. Dude has his Redskins jersey on and he's being obnoxious about them losing and want another drink.

Bartender, she's about 300 pounds, tells him to hold on because she was getting a few other people their drinks. He walks back there and gets in her face. She literally picked him up and threw him out of the bar :XXROFL:
 
Back to the original question...Yeah, I think the teacher did the right thing in today's society. Back when I was in school, way back in the 80's, teachers generally broke up fights where they could. But today, everybody is looking for a chance to sue somebody. The other big thing here, is that the teachers get no support from the school system in breaking up fights. According to the union rep, if a teacher gets injured breaking up a fight, they are on their own. Some teachers have been injured to the point of being unable to return to work and some have been reprimanded for breaking up a fight.

It would be hard for me, if I were a teacher to watch something like this happen without stepping in. I probably would step in myself, but I completely understand why others may not want to.
