Watching The Grammy Awards

Nothing else on so I turned over to this stuff. It's clear....music is dead.

True statement. Music these days sucks. With regard to our current selection of "Country" music it seems that artists are too interested in cross-over tunes so that they can sell to a larger audience. As far as Rock 'n Roll goes, there isn't anymore. Gary Moore, B.B. King and Stevie Ray are dead, so no chance of any good blues...yup, we're screwed.

When people like Justin Beiber and Lady Gagme are some of the most popular stars we are all screwed.

Haven't listened to Beiber, but I can't stand GaGa.
I love Def Leppard, Motley Crue, ACDC, White Snake, Rod Stewart, Poison, and many more. I'm stuck in the 80's.
I like INXS and Bon Jovi and a lot more.

I listen to mostly Alternative Rock like Nirvana, SoundGarden, Cake, etc.

It's sad that our selection of music is mostly comprised of bands that are no longer (alive or) together. "Talent" is purely a subjective word. Proof that simple minds are entertained by simple things.

I'm in agreement with everything you said, but unless I missed something, BB King is very much alive. I think he's touring as we speak. Still belting it out at 85.

It's a shame we don't at least have Stevie. He's probably my all time favorite, and he'd still be pretty much in his prime today compared to his peers. To think we could've lost Clapton in that crash too.

And if you like that stuff, you can still find it today if you try hard enough. Joe Bonamassa and Derek Trucks put out some good stuff, and there are some more old guys still out there. James Cotton, Buddy Guy, and Charlie Musselwhite all had new stuff out a few months ago.

There was a kid Johnny Lang who had a great blues/blues rock album years ago, I think he was only 16 or 17 when he did it, but I've tried out some of the stuff he's done since then, and I can't say I'm impressed with it.

I watched a little of this, as I'm usually asleep by 9pm, I'm an early riser. I must say I was impressed by the opening tribute to Aretha Franklin. Other than that I saw GaGa do her impersonation of Madona, not impressed.....lol. I listen to hard rock, techno, trance, and country so i didn't get a chance to see any of that, if in fact they had any of that type of music on there. StaticX, Disturbed, Puddle of Mud, are my style of music which I use to work out to, plus Trance stuff, hardly really mainstream Grammy material, although Disturbed is pretty popular these days. I get looks at concerts for being almost 50 and being a head banger....lol, but hey I gotta think young at this point in my life or I'll really be old.....ha!;)

Thanks for setting me straight. For some reason I though he passed away, too.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with everyone... not sure why "Need You Now" is worthy of Album of the Year.

Well I think news claiming he died has gotten out on more than one occasion, only to be retracted when it's found to be false. It's bound to foul somebody up.
