So many candidates but that's just typical road racing... so I'm going with Brian Barnhart for the final restart in the IndyCar race that "didn't happen".

How is that a Watkins Glen bonehead move?

I should've included Loudon in the title. That was the dumbest move of the weekend.

Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch definitely get nominations... Kurt for screwing Allmendinger over and Kyle for handing away a sure thing win.

Kyle Busch for screwing up a turn and giving the win away.
David Regan and Boris Said for causing a massive crash.
Tony Stewart for spinning himself out on the last lap.

I only watched todays race so I can't speak of the others but Ragan and Said get my vote with honorable mention going to #14 crew - AGAIN!

I'd have to go with Said. Making a theat on natoinal tv like that was dumb. At least Childress had enough sense not to make a public thear and took care of it behind the garage.

I'll have to go back and watch the ending of it at home before I give my final vote. My nominees, so far, are:

Kyle Busch for overdriving the corner and losing the race

NASCAR and Watkins Glen for no safer barriers in some of these danger spots

Kurt Busch for running over two drivers at the first of the race (one was the leader)

Biffle for trying to fight a guy still in the car with the window net up

Boris for keeping his helmet on when confronting Biffle. Be a man and take the helmet off. Don't think Biff was the only "scaredy" cat in that deal.

My vote is easy. David Ragan for trying to run Said onto the grass. David maoves way over and knew Said would have to lift.....or wreck him. It's the last lap, dumbass, of course you're getting turned with a dumb move like that. Tony wrecked Said last year for doing the same thing.

Sad thing is, Ragan messed up Reutimann 2 weeks in a row with his dumbass moves. PURE desperation.

The deal with Boris and David Ragan was really just one of them rassin deals, IMO. David expected Boris to lift off the throttle and Boris expected David to give him more room. I am glad that Ragan and Rooty were OK! Unfortunate? Yes. Boneheaded, maybe.

Pee Wee had the race won, but he had been having front brake issues all day and he tried too hard to protect his lead, knowing that Brad and Marcos were both really strong. Aggressive error? Yes. Boneheaded? I dunno. He was gonna be passed by those two anyway, more than likely.

The Biff should know better than to challenge Boris to a fight. That was pretty boneheaded. Boris promising bodily harm was mighty close to a boneheaded move.

But I think that Kurt Busch should be the leading candidate for the award for taking out the The Dinger. He knew that he had brake issues but still drove right on AJ's bumper. Bonehead!

Kyle's gonna get ding'd in the Chase.

There's nothing Boris could give Dave right there without running into that pothole and into the grass. Dave should know better than to change lanes and squeeze someone on turn exit, especially that turn. It's not like Dave was setting up the next turn, because they are going into a long straight. And it wasn't a case of Dave sliding either. He just turns left to block so hard, you can see almost the entire front end of the 78, who was in line behind him.

The same thing happened TO Said last year between he and Stewart. He complained about that. This year, the roles are reversed. Someone should ask him if he thinks Stewart was right for doing the same thing to him last year. For me, it's wreck or be wrecked.

That boy is gonna be some sore come tomorrow morning. I'm thankful he got out of the car under his own power. Matter of fact hambone and reagan will be on the Advil diet too.

Seems something came into Reutimanns car and tore up his leg a little.

Hey, he may make the chase! :D

:beerbang:As Long as no-one got hurt.. Spec=Frickin'-Tacular!!! :beerbang:

& the 00 has Zero chance of maki ng the Chase!!...Like Truex..

Boris Said. We can all agree to disagree 'til we're blue in the face as to who was at fault in the wreck. But I agree with both Dale Jarrett and Andy Petree - Boris could have eased off a bit and not get into Ragan. Yes, it's the last lap, but they weren't racing for the win and Boris isn't racing for points.

....soooooo, I say Said.

I'll say Boris too, but not for the wreck. It's hard to pin that one on either guy. I pick Said for complaining Biffle wouldn't "fight him like a man" meanwhile he was trying to get at him with his helmet still on.

Yeah, that was hilarious. ESPN's Pardon The Interruption even devoted a whole segment today on the ensuing scuffle between Biffle and Said.

Yeah, after rewatching from a different angle, I have to agree. Ragan screwed up (yet again), but Said should have backed off a little.

It's the heat of the moment. I'm sure we both agree the wreck should have never happened.

I'm just glad Ruity's ok. (Hey, that's what they call him in the Aaron's commercials ).

I like those commercials, especially the one where he calls MW a suck-up.

I want to nominate the track owners for having 1920's era technology for safety precautions. I hate the new car for what it has done for the racing but if it weren't for the new cars safety, we might have 3 dead or seriously injured Cup drivers right now.

As for bonehead drivers I say nobody, thats the way road racing should be in my opinion, cutthroat and balls to the wall.

The more I'm thinking about it I'm changing mine from Boris Said to the track operators. That goes for the ones that run The Glen as well as the others that don't heed what occurred yesterday as a warning. I think these track owners need to take a walk around the racing surface and look for places that there is no way in hell someone would hit. Then, put up a SAFER barrier in those spots. They always seem to be the ones that get hit. We got lucky more than once again yesterday. Those were some nasty wrecks. The car has evolved tremendously since the inception of the COT and the safety restraints have as well. Hamlin was a walking/talking commercial for the 7-point restraint system after yesterdays firewall deep header into the turn one tire barrier and rightfully so. These guys aren't going to keep on walking out of the infield care center forever. While this sport will never be completely safe, at the very least be proactive and do whatever can be done to keep moving it in that direction.

I normaly stay out of the "Bonehead" thread butt I have to agree with you on this one, hell there's tracks across the USA who have softwalls who never have had or will have a NASCAR race! Whats the deal with Watkins Glen?
