•Road Course Ringers Hit The Glen: Every time a road course race pops up on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule, a few unfamiliar names appear on the entry list. They're the "road course ringers," and oftentimes they threaten to steal a victory. Usually, they fall short in that endeavor. The last time a "road course ringer" won a NASCAR Sprint Cup race was in 1973 when Mark Donohue won at Riverside International Raceway.
Ringers to watch this weekend: Boris Said, Ron Fellows, P.J. Jones and Andrew Ranger.
• Boris Said: With wild hair and a notebook-filling personality, Said has notched seven top 10s at road courses, including a third-place run at Watkins Glen in 2005. He finished 28th at Infineon Raceway in June. Said will be driving the #51 Phoenix Racing Chevrolet this weekend.
• Ron Fellows: If only Fellows' NASCAR Nationwide Series road-course success could translate to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Fellows has four road-course wins in NASCAR Nationwide competition, including three at Watkins Glen. In the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, he's winless with two runner-up finishes at The Glen (1999, 2004). Fellows will run the #36 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet this weekend.
• P.J. Jones: His boss Robby Gordon could teach him a thing or two at Watkins Glen. Gordon won at The Glen in 2003, and has 10 road-course top 10s overall. Jones' numbers: two road-course top 10s in 18 starts. He'll run the #77 Robby Gordon Motorsports Dodge on Sunday.
• Andrew Ranger: The two-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series champion (2007, '09) will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in the #32 FAS Lane Racing Ford. He has two road-course top 10s in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, at Road America and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.(NASCAR)(8-12-2011)

With the way he's been running lately, put your money on #24, people.

The only driver I can guarantee wont win will be Brian Vickers. Why Red Bull doesnt put a ringer in the #83 for Watkins Glen is beyond me.

Mike Helton was just on the webcast and said they have considered adding the 'boot' to NASCAR course at Glen.

That's cool IMO!

JJ....Yawnnnnnn

Yup, Vanilla as can be.

Oh, and you just tried to "break his side draft." Yeah, by turning left and running into his car, Jimmie. Oh, but 5 time never does anything wrong.

Personally, I'd love to see Kurt take the 48 car out, because JJ thinks that he didn't do anything wrong, when it's perfectly clear that he started the contact to begin with.

Hmmm.....these media types rarely ask intelligent questions in these situations.

I would ask: Jimmie, wasn't that a pretty dramatic move to break the draft? What would have happened if Kurt didn't react as fast as he did? Wouldn't you have torn up his fender and slowed his car to the point he couldn't race you any longer? Might he thought that was your intent, due to your stated frustration with being unable to pass him for so long? How would YOU have reacted to Kurt trying to slam you while 'breaking the draft"? Jimmie, you clearly denied making the hard left when Kurt complained about it on pit road. Why? Wouldn't it upset you to have a driver deny his role in the incident?

As far as Kurt 'running his mouth', please tell us what it is he said? Was he cursing you, or was he simply frustrated because he wanted to put the whole thing on him? Might the conversation have gone differently if you had said "Sorry I cut down so hard, but that was no reason to bump my fender"?

JJ's first line of defense got ripped in the press, so now he want's to talk about Kurt's mouth instead of what he did on the track.

That about sums it up, quite well.
