Git rig of Darby
Git rid of Helton
Get rid of Pemberton

I still would like to see the races divided into 3 to 4 segements with points being awarded at each segment. That way if a driver is having a great run and he cuts a tire or smokes his engine the DNF won't hurt him so much. It also would stop the riding around waiting for the finish.

That would be cool

As much as the Chase was a mistake of an idea, I don't think that they'll ever eliminate it. It's here to stay in whatever format they choose to make of it. They just need to get it set in stone and quit making it a work in progress. It seems like every year they tweak it one way or another in response to the current years outcome. Do other sports do that each year? From time to time, but every single year? IDK

Less cookie cutter tracks. Great idea. The drivers/analysts and whoever else you can throw in there remind us each trip to another 1.5er how different they are. That may really be the case behind the wheel, but they all seem to produce the same type of racing that normally lends itself to be somewhere at the bottom of the excitement level.

Some more short tracks is another great idea. That and more unique configurations. I like seeing a variety of venues that require different driving skills.

Road courses. I've always liked them. Watkins Glen was a yearly trek for my brother & I long ago. I'd just like to see them throw another one of these in during the first 26 and then one in the Chase.

Changing the cars look. Maybe you all haven't heard but that is happening in 2013. I can't criticize them here @ all. They worked on getting a safer car produced, which they did. Now they're trying to work on getting it to a more brand identifiable car which is a good move IMO. They are never going to look like they pulled them off of the showroom floor again. It just isn't happening.

Allow teams to do more with a racecar..... IDK. They already do things that tend to separate the powerhouses from the average Joe race teams. I think that gap would be widened to the point where it would be mostly one racing organization winning most all of the races. We've had a pretty diverse year in 2011. 18 winners representing ? organizations.

While this has got to be the dumbest topic ever. There is one thought that deserves not to be overlooked . Look again at #8 . Allowing teams to do more with their cars would bring back the disparity between the haves and have nots .
It would take racing back to where it was twenty years ago.
There wouldn't be any upstart teams winning races . Young drivers would take years to earn a ride on a have team. New teams like Stewart Haas and Red Bull would take many years to win a race . There would be no chance of a Danica or Brad stepping right into a competative ride .
Have not teams would be laps down at most races and only our favorite drivers would have a chance of winning.

Start up teams shouldn't be able to win races. Who cares how long it takes a "young" driver to find a good team. This isn't formula one were you retire before age 40, so there really wouldn't be many available rides anyway. Sprint cup is the top level of stock car racing. A series for the best engineers, best technology, best crew chiefs and Best drivers. Right now, Spring Cup doesn't feature 43 of the best drivers. It's more like 5. Engineers? Maybe some real good ones, but certainly not as good as it could be. Technology? LOL, what technology. We are now just going to fuel injection. I would much rather see a series similar to some road racing series. Let them engineer and develop the cars with a much more open rule book, and if the performance discrepancy gets too wide, throw some lead weight in the car to slow it down, or reduce the rev limiter by 100. THus allowing innovation, yet the ability to have a more level playing field.

Many years ago, NASCAR would subjectively change rules for certain cars when they had an apparent competitive advantage. They would mandate a taller roof line, or a different rear window shape, or a less streamlined hood. This would always bring cheers and/or boos, depending upon which side of the fence one was on.

The COT was designed to eliminate this subjectivity. I don't think it would be wise for NASCAR to toss the rule book and tell the engineers to Have at it, Boys! It would lead to penalizing teams that had the better engineers - subjectively.
