SAN DIEGO -- WD-40 Company will award a weekend trip for two to a NASCAR Winston Cup event in a contest designed to help the fans of WD-40 celebrate the product's first 50 years of existence.

The "Where's Ward?" contest asks fans to guess where driver Ward Burton will be running at the 50th lap of 10 consecutive NASCAR Winston Cup races, concluding with the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Aug. 3. Winners will be entered into a grand prize drawing for the weekend trip to a NASCAR event. WD-40 Company invites fans to visit www.wd40.com to enter and learn more about the contest.

"It's great to be a partner with a company with 50 years' experience making a great product," Burton said. "I know I still find new ways to use WD-40, so it's safe to say that the product will be around for a heck of a lot longer.

"It's unique to have people guess where I'm going to be running at the 50th lap, and it will be fun. I hope the winners correctly guess that I'll be running up front -- even leading."

In 1953, three technicians at what was then known as Rocket Chemical Company set out to create a line of rust-preventive solvents and degreasers to protect missile parts from corrosion. It took them 40 attempts to finalize the formula, but it worked. WD-40, which stands for Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try, was born.

Since its inception in that small lab, WD-40, the multi-purpose problem solver of NASCAR, has enjoyed one of the most intriguing followings of any product, and very few brands will ever match its popularity.

In fact, the variety of uses for WD-40 and the affinity its fans possess for the lubricant have proved it so popular that the blue and yellow can has been the subject of several books and even has its own Fan Club, located at http://fanclub.wd40.com.

WD-40 Company has partnered with Burton, the 2002 Daytona 500 winner, since the beginning of the 2002 season.

Well I thought about It, I don't think so...I would always say 1st at the end of 50 laps. :p

But I bet here on R-F, that Ward is 18th on the 50th lap at Chicago. :)
