Eventually my wife and I would like to go to every race track to watch a Sprint Cup race. We have experience the Watkins Glen entire weekend but have only experienced race day at Daytona and soon Homestead. I know there will be a lot of opinions here and some of them biased for their home tracks. My question is what would people recommend for a full weekend camping race experience if they were only able to choose 1? We will most likely do the Race day experience for most locations but looking to do some full weekend experiences.

It really depends on what KIND of experience you want. :)
If you want "anything goes" --- the only place to go is Talladega.
Martinsville, Bristol, and Charlotte probably offer the most to see and do in the area.

I'll add my biased opinion also.

Watkins Glen for me. The experience, we Park a large NASCAR decked out 80's School Bus with a huge welded Deck on top right next to the inner loop. We have giant awnings to cover a kitchen/dining area. We have multiple kegs and coolers filled with beer. Every morning we wake up and go straight to beer. Its a non stop party from Thursday afternoon to Monday morning. We don't have the typical camping meals. We have huge breakfasts and better dinner than I would have in a month at home (prime rib on one of the nights). We watch the race on the deck with TVs to show other parts of the track. We also get spotters from a lot of different teams on our bus as well as some drivers stopping by at random times when they aren't racing (no big names but I guess the biggest name has been Austin Dillon this year). We constantly yell "that side sucks" and have signs with the same message for the spectators on the other side of the track. They then begin the same chant toward us but we all hang out at night when theres no racing going on. I guess that's about it...

Of all of the tracks that we camp or have camped @, Bristol would be our favorite. There's a lot to do surrounding either the spring/fall race there @ the track. Go to their Charity page of the BMS website and take them up on the $20 Track Laps for Kids. It's a good experience there. They also have good pre-race concerts in and around the track. Their fan fest and hauler parade before the fall weekend is especially good.

Thanks for the reply. Bristol is definitely a top 3 track we would like to see a race. That may lead to Bristol being the option. We also honeymooned in TN right around the Fall race (week after or 2) so that also may play a big factor.

I've never been to a race I didn't completely enjoy.

Well, there was that one year at Indy with the tire issues. ;)

I just gave up my camping spots there last week. If you want great spots @ Bristol for either the spring/fall race call Dan @ their camping number located on their website. I had two sites side by side, both races, @ a place they call The Landing. They may still be available. It is a BMS owned campground. A fun crowd there. I'm going to miss going but we're now doing both Martinsville races and something had to give. I like the racing @ Martinsville far better than Bristol but Bristol is a much better place to camp for the track experience.

if you have the days, Charlotte offers the all-star race and the 600 in a 10 day span

just a weekend, Bristol

I don't know...I live in the Bristol area and I don't feel like there dang thing to do even during race weekends.

Loudon in the fall is nice.Cool crisp days and nights. Plenty of activities in the region, and the camping right on the property is great.
Been going there 23 years now, and it's like an extended family. Thinking about Martinsville next Fall..

Martinsville is great. The ticket prices are among the most reasonable on the circuit. There's a great little natural history museum right there in town. There are plenty of things to see in Greensboro, less than an hour to the south.

Much as I love Darlington, there isn't much in the area. Myrtle Beach is about 60 miles away, traffic jammed along the entire route.

The sight lines at Indy are pathetic. If you're not in a corner, don't expect to see much.

Way easy answer to this, "BRISTOL" !!!!!!!!!

Talladga, the national forest is so beautiful, the track is amazing. Watched Dale Sr with binoculars and headsets running 200 mph with his arm on the window curtain one hand on steering wheel, talking about bass fishing with his crew chief. What a Sunday drive! Drove up from FL on Friday night, got there at 3:30 am so we thought we would just park outside and get some sleep, not. Gates were open and a huge tail gate party was going on.
