The merger with GEM and Petty Interprizes has been renamed Richard Petty Motorsports, basically keeping the Petty name in racing even though Petty has little say so in the running of the teams. Richard says that he will be doing more or less the same thing that he's been doing for the last eight to ten years, basically nothing he joked. He will be doing what the owners ask of him in pursuing sponsors, making appearances etc. When asked about son Kyle, he said he doesn't know anything and said that he didn't think that Kyle knew anything either. But he thought Kyle would be okay with his TV deal. I saw a picture of the 43 car all red with McDonalds as it's sponsor. Gonna miss that blue car. Also, the 43 and 44 (when raced) will not carry the Bud or Coors logo or any other alcohol logo. Richard said that his mother would haunt them for the rest of their lives if that happened. LOL

I think that this is the best news I've heard for Richard Petty in quite some time. Great that the have the numbers 43 and 44 and HIS name on the company. Great stuff

I kind wish they would get over the alcohol thing though..........I'm a big fan of alcohol...in moderation (and one day I'll figure out how to do that)

Glad Allmendinger's got sponsorship but that #43 has been a curse.

Hopefully all will be better with Evernh----Petty (George Gillette) motors.:D

Here's a couple preview schemes for the 43 in 2009-

The Air Force scheme is reported to be run in the Daytona 500.

I like the idea of them not putting the sticker on there. They are not advertising beer to young kids. :)

I'm glad to see someone have standards and stick to them.

So happy to see the Petty name continue.

I agree but it won't be the same. Richard is now just a figurehead to draw sponsorship $$. I like Kyle but he wasn't much of a driver. What other team would have kept him in a car as long as P.E. did without even mediocre results?

The untimely death of Adam sealed the fate of Petty Enterprises.:(

I guess the same can be said about DEI with the death of SR. :(
