Wow! Thanks for all the welcomes!! See, now this is why I thought this board was cool when I first read some of the posts and saw the humor. Yep, I'm a Jeff fan.... gee.. how'd you guess? LOL

Would you believe I've only become a NASCAR fanatic THIS SEASON?!! Yep! My husband has had every kind of race on the TV every weekend and I never got interested. Sure, I knew some drivers, <cough Jeff cough Jeff!!> but I'd never sit through a whole race. Then I saw the end of this year's Daytona 500 and I was watching more and more of each race until I got to the point that I won't miss a minute of a race if I can help it! When my son came home from college, he couldn't believe I was watching racing. LOL My husband actually gave him a ride when there was only 30 laps left at Chicago. There's NO WAY I would have done that!!!!

A bit about me other than being a :newbie: This Sunday will be my 29th wedding anniversary so of course Jeff is going to win the Brickyard as my gift! :D We have 3 kids, a girl 26, a girl 23 who just got married on June 9, and a son who is 19. I HAVE gone to a big race in the past, but it was the '79 F1 Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. I almost backed out when it was pouring ran and COLD until my brother offered his full-sized Chevy van w/a bed in the back for us to use. (Anyone else remember those days of the full-sized vans all pimped out inside? LOL) I got into racing for a while, but then my favorite driver was killed during a practice a couple of years later. That sort of killed my enthusiam.

My brothers and my husband always went to the Grand Prix at The Glen. My oldest brother is a photographer and he couldn't get back into F1 racing for a very long time after he went to take a picture of a crash and found the driver had been decapitated. He walked away and got sick. Not hard to understand why he couldn't watch after that. He is a racing "snob" and only likes open wheel and recently said to me, "Sure, you HAD to get into NASCAR!" Hey.. I watch Indy & F1 races too, I just love NASCAR. :)

My husband and oldest brother have always gone to the smaller races at The Glen almost every year. Our oldest daughter never wanted to go, but our 2nd daughter and our son went quite a few times. My 2nd daughter has been to several NASCAR races at The Glen. Her "ex" and his family took her when they were together. I bought tickets for my husband and son to go to a Busch race when Chad Little (my son's favorite) was still driving. He obviously hasn't been following since he made a comment about going if Chad Little was there! I had to tell him he's not racing and promoting The Mexican NASCAR. It was interesting to learn he's also a lawyer. Geeze..did I get it bad or what that I've been looking up all kinds of information, joined racing boards and am more interested in those than the one I've posted at for years?!! LOL

So, right now I'm working on getting down to The Glen for the race. The best seats of course, are gone and it being a road course is a draw-back for seeing a lot, BUT.......... I still want to go!! Our daughter offered to go w/me last weekend and my husband didn't say "It's too much money!!," so I'm waiting to see if we'll get an event pass or just a Sunday pass if my daughter has to work on Sat. Of course, Jeff will win THIS RACE TOO because I've become a huge fan, (guess whose name is on the shirt I'm wearing? heh heh) it's our "home track" and it will be my first time attending a race if I get there. I'm sure he knows all of this! Hahaha

I don't really HATE any drivers. Yes, I'm too new to have built up too much dislike, although I've seen and heard some things I don't like. You might hear me let a few choice words fly if I see something I don't like. It was fun seeing if Tony was going to make it up that fence w/o it breaking. :puffin: :lol2: (I wonder if his stomach will be bigger this week after drinking all that Schlitz?!!! :bleh: Didn't know they still made that crap! LOL) That being said, I WILL change barbs with anyone who puts down Jeff! :swords: ;)

One last thing. My nephew Mike is with the 3-69 Armor, 3rd Infantry Div. and on his 2nd deployment to Iraq. He's been home on his 2wk R&R and then heads back at the end of the week. If you're so inclined, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. :salute:

Hopefully, I haven't bored you all to tears, but I was asked to tell you a "bit" about me and well, geeeze.. my fingers are talkative. :D

Glad to have you posting with us and I sure hope you get to go to the races at the Glen. I know if you are there Jeff will win for you. The last road course he got a handicap that he couldn't quiet overcome. He will be ready to go on this one.

Yeah Kat, I think I only forgot my address and social security number. ROFLMAO!!

Thanks tkj... I'll keep you posted in my effort to get to The Glen. How sweet would it be to be at my first race and have Jeff win it?!!! :bounce: :bounce:

I have been at races when Jeff won. (Several at Martinsville) It almost makes me cry.

I think I would CRY!! LOL Maybe I could get on tv like that "crying girl" on American Idol. ROFL :XXROFL:
