Daytona International Speedway workers remove the Winston logo panels from the scoring towers at the track. The familiar red and white Winston panels will be replaced with new Nextel Cup logos in time for Speedweeks beginning in January 2004.

The Winston Cup Series may be gone, but Winston will never be forgotten for all of Their contributions, from 1971-2003,in turning the Series into what it is today, just hope that Nextel will keep the organization headed in the right direction ;)

Any of the Unocal76 signs came down yet,and/or has any Sunoco signs gone up yet?

I suppose that the Pontiac ads will be brought down also?

Too many era's ending in 2003 for My taste,what a year,and what a year 2004 promises to be,even if that stupid(IMO) 10 race play-off idea doesn't come to fruition ;)

Winston help build Nascar to what it is. Now Nextel and Nascar is gonna distroy it.

It'll still be the 'Winston Cup' to me.. I don't care who comes in and tries to change it. After 19 years of it, I'm not about to start calling it the 'Nextel Cup'.

I dont care at all, will this affect the racing in any way?

No. Do you expect the Winston thing to remain up there forever? As much as I appreciate their contributions to NASCAR, they are no longer the title sponsor of NASCAR thus regardless of what they did, like the Grand National title before it, their titles will be replaced be it for better or the worse.

It's clear, NASCAR is changing, be it either for the better or for the worse, the change is coming, accept it.

Wow, something about that picture hit me. I guess that is the signal that the change is official. Let's only hope Nextel can do 1/100th of what Winston did for Nascar!
