This morning I had to take my son to school. The wipers have been acting up on the old Olds, so I borrowed my mother's Civic. It's been snowing and the main road I'd have to take is a slushy mess and good wipers a must. On my way back from dropping him off ... blue and red lights in the mirror. Can't be for me ... I pull off out of his way, and he follows me to the curb. OK, what's this **** about ... as both doors behind me open. They'd pulled me over because the car was registered to a woman. Seriously?

I thought Canada was a very tolerant country.

Weirdly............

I've had this happen to me several times. When I work the night shift I generally leave early, about a 1/2 hour before I have to be there. 3 mile drive, no rush, doping 30-35 in a 45. Cars hauls tail up behind and parks right on my bumper. Follows me for a while.then veers off, it's a sheriff checking me out. I guess 30 in a 45 is a red flag.

They have a new license checking computer in cop cars here in Oklahoma. scans your plate and checks for warrants, insurance etc.

Nothing worse than when you are expecting a woman and it turns out to be a man.:(

State Patrol pulled me over late one night(early one morning) for going 69 in a 55. left me go with a warning. they were looking for DUI's on Labor Day weekend...and I passed all their tests. NOT annoying.....except for the fact it was an inconvienience.

Well, they did have a good reason for pulling you. You were speeding. I wasn't doing anything to be pulled over for.

Cops are paid to be curious. I had one pull me over because I was driving at 3am before. He said that the likelihood I was up to no goof was high as I out on the roads at that time. Was getting off a late shift.

This reminds me of a similar traffic stop suffered by a college roommate, although it was Campus Police instead of a real cop.

My roommate had a hometown friend come visit for the weekend. Since it was Friday night they went for a quick tour of the campus / look for a party. But our campus was really small, and typically dead on a Friday night. So they never found a party.

As they pulled into our rented house (owned by the school and on campus) a Campus Police car pulled in behind them. He made my roommate perform a bunch of sobriety tests, including a breathalyzer. He passed them all easily - after all, they had never found a party. My roommate asked why he'd been pulled over, and the Campus cop replied that he "must be up to no good". Then he gave my roommate a ticket that said "Driving with no purpose".

Monday morning my roommate went down to see the Campus Security Chief and complain about the ticket, which the Chief cancelled. We weren't at Kent State - we didn't have to have any purpose as an excuse to go driving.
