I have to clean out my room. No. I'm talking about the basic spring cleaning that everyone does to make their places livable.... I mean I have to go through and clean out 21 years and 7 months worth of sheit that has been stockpiled under my bed, in my closet, and inside all of that furniture my mother insisted on buying when I was 7.

Hopefully by August my room will resemble a 20 y/o's room.

LS, you only need to remember one thing --- if you haven't used it, looked at it, worn it, or thought about it in a year --- OUT IT GOES!
Especially boxes --- if a box hasn't been opened in forever, don't look in it --- just chuck it out.

I followed that rule when the hubby and I moved out of a house that we'd lived in for 25 years. Worked wonders.

Good Luck with that. I sort of had to do some cleaning out of my stuff when I moved to Florida a few years ago to do my Undergrad studies. Some stuff came with me of course, but a lot of the stuff had to go. I still live down here in Florida as now I am going to start my Doctoral studies in Physical Therapy this Fall, but still there is some of my stuff back in boxes in my parents basement. I probably will stay here in Florida after I Graduate with the Doctorate and get certified. Sooner or later I'll either have to go back to my parents and throw away that stuff or bring them back with me.

I don't have a ton of stuff but what I do have is stuff from when Jennifer was little. I have baby clothes, pictures and school papers. She is my only child so those things mean absolutely the world to me. People ask me why I kept her baby clothes, they just mean a lot to me. I guess they think I should have sold them.

ummmmm no.

Not if they are special to you don't sell them.

This is a good rule to follow. I've been recently trying to de-clutter my garage. :(
(Except for the boxes part. I have some rare and valuable auto parts.)

I won't. She is a grown woman now, 22 yrs old. They help me remember her as a baby and toddler.
Same age as I am going to be in June. I bet my Mom has some things of mine from when I was a baby. I know she has some of my famous artwork from my school days. :)

I bet she does. My mother passed away in March and I am getting things that I made when I was little. They mean a lot to me now that she is gone. :(
I am so sorry. It is great that she kept all those things. It shows that she really cared a lot about you.

Thank you so much.

I loved that woman. She had to have a colonoscopy done, her bowel ruptured and she got sepsis. She was in ICU for 8 days, my bother and sisters made the decision to let her go. They removed her ventilator and she passed 3 hours later.

I am not over losing her.

That is awful. I am so sorry.

Thank you. You're very sweet.

I went to the hospital every day. They med-flighted her to Columbus. The Dr's and Nurses did their best, they really did. She was just so weak and sick. She looked so fragile. It was awful.

Her 85th birthday is coming up in June. Mother's Day sucked. Her birthday will too.

That has to be really hard. I can't even imagine losing my Mom. I know I will be a mess.

I know I don't need to tell you this but enjoy every stinking minute you can with her.
Yes indeed. That is the one thing I miss the most since I moved from my parents home to Florida for college; not being able to hang with my Mom as much. I cherish the holidays that I do go back home though.

I hated to be away from home when I was in college. I also moved away to Washington State for 5 years. It was hard but I loved it there. I'm back in Ohio now.

My mom tried to pawn that noise off on me a few years ago. I was like "you're the one that decided to save it!".

...she still has most of it.

Do you happen to have any old Nicson neovane cam-driven water pumps?

After I graduate with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 3 years I am pretty sure I am getting certified here in Florida so I am planning on staying. I will still go back for Thanksgiving or Christmas each year.

Not my Mom yet. I imagine when I have a kid and they start making art work for me my Mom will give me some of mine back to compare.

My mom did this to me a few weeks ago. I showed at her house to drop my son off before heading to work one morning and she had a couple of boxes sitting out with my name on it. It was all stuff I made in school. She told me I should have it since I made it and she insisted I take it. I told her if I took it, the **** was going in the dumpster at the office. She put it back in her storage building.

They seem so shocked when you can't seem to give a ****. Lol.

Not so subtle humblebrag.

Seriously though, congrats. That is a hell of an accomplishment.
IDK why it is a brag. It is just the next step in my Education process. Just finished my undergraduate studies and now to trudge onto the next step to becoming a Physical Therapist.
Thanks, it's gonna be some hard work these next 3 years. That is for damn sure.

Gotcha, I read it as you had finished school with a Doctorate in three years and thought you were one of those genius Asian or Indian students that finishes college in half the time it normally takes.

What school in Florida? Hopefully not UF.

Definitely not a genius. I have to work my butt off. I go to the University of Central Florida.

For me it's tools. Get serious, you can't throw out a tool. It's a tool!. You WILL need it as soon as you chuck it. Then you'll have to go buy one, and they don't make them as well as they used to today.
