Busch hit Mears under red flag conditions!! HELLO NASCAR his car was not even supposed to be moving!@! And from what I saw the wreck he was pissed about was his own damn fault!!

NASCAR Looking at Kyle Busch - Mears incident UPDATE no penalties: #5-Kyle Busch didn't have much to say and #42-Casey Mears probably didn't feel there was much to say about Busch's running into Mears under the red flag following their accident on lap 100 of the Nextel Cup race Saturday. Busch was mad at Mears over the accident in the Subway Fresh 500 at Phoenix International Raceway and showed his displeasure with the light tap. Busch was about 45 laps down when he returned to the race and NASCAR held him five laps for rough driving, but Busch would have finished in the same position with or without the five-lap penalty. NASCAR will revisit the issue this week to determine whether any additional penalties are warranted. After meeting with NASCAR officials in the hauler following the race, Busch left the track without commenting to reporters, and Mears, frustrated with his car even before the Busch tap, was atypically terse. "I'm not really worried about Kyle," Mears said. When asked if he was surprised Busch hit him during the red flag, Mears replied: "I'm not surprised with anything he does."(SceneDaily.com)(4-24-2006)

UPDATE: NASCAR has decided it will neither fine nor take points away from #5-Kyle Busch for running into the back of #42-Casey Mears during the red flag period of last Saturday's Subway Fresh 500 at Phoenix International Raceway, according to NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp. NASCAR officials met with Busch following the race and Tharp indicated on Tuesday that NASCAR now considers the issue closed. After leaving the hauler, Alan Gustafson, Busch's crew chief, said he hoped the team would not get a penalty. "[NASCAR said] just that we need to respect the red flag, and I agree with them," Busch's crew chief, Alan Gustafson, said after leaving the hauler. "he No. 1 priority in that situation is the safety of other people and that's what we've got to worry about."(SceneDaily.com)(4-25-2006)

Way to re-write them rules NASCAR

I have to agree Wolf, there's atleast 3 things Kyle should've been penalized for and IMO the MOST important of them all was driving under RED FLAG conditions>

I'm surprised at this, but I remember someone saying once that NASCAR had a tendency to let some things get taken care of on the track. Perhaps this is NASCAR giving the go ahead for someone to straighten him out. I've lost a lot of respect for Kyle, who was one of my favorites, because of this.

i think Jim huinter is waiting for stewart, harvick, or somebody of the like to pound shrub's head in. Maybe he should take a lesson from robby @ new hampshire or the 2001 stewart, or kasey Kahne @ NH. He just hasn't learned has he?

I'm quite surprised, as the actions on Kyle's part were a BLATANT display of agressive behavior. Casey didn't do a dang thing to deserve that!
I'm not really surprised that there were no points deducted, but to sweep the whole thing under the Nascar rug with no fine or probation is sending the wrong message.

well, you can take points away or you can take money away, but taking points away usually doesn't do that much, especially with someone whose points will more than likely be reset after 26 races, taking money away from hendrick is like stealing a drop of water from the ocean...BUT if you have a good race going and someone takes you out of it, then you might get the message of "learn to respect your competitors" pretty damn quick.

now im not nascar, so i dont know why they are so leanent on some and tough on others, but it seems like the hendrick teams get away with alot more than others. and to me it is very obvious. i know that other drivers would have been at least on probation for that.

I can't stand Kyle Busch, but Nascar did the very same thing for Dale Senior.
Bristol 99 comes to mind. :D ;)
The last two years, I have noticed two Hendrick teams getting off pretty light. How long has the obvious favortism been going on with Hendrick?

back in 99 you were still allowed to bump and grind, hell now days if you look at someone wrong there is a fine and points deduction

Correct me if I'm wrong but was did dale hit him in retaliation? No I think it was for the win.

I just put on my suit of armor and chain mail suit. LOL
I know what I am gonna say will sure raise hairs on some.
Dale punted ANYONE that was in his way of winning. There were some awful unhappy drivers out there some races. But.........................he g ot away with it. NASCAR didn't say "boo" about it. That was racin!!!!!
Now we have a ton of "sissy pants" that want a race with glass cars. Don't break things, or NASCAR will getcha!!!!!

Don't think it's just HMS that gets 'special" treatment either. RCR and RR get their fair share. NASCAR don't dare kill their golden geese.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, off my soap box now.

Ready to take my lumps.

What, no mention of DEI? Or is it just naturally accepted they get the calls so there's not need to even mention them...

I'm mostly with Dragonlady on this one.

Barelypure.........And who is DEI now????? Kevin, Paul, and Jr. Kevin sure has had his hands slapped. Jr got bloody He** when he created his "caution",(that cracked me up), Paul seems to keep pretty much clean. But as a matter of fact, I just plumb forgot. Oversight or senility???? Dunno. LOL

When Jr and Mikey, were DEI, they weren't chastised like other drivers. And again, NASCAR continues to create a "glass car" atmosphere.

Example.......This weekend we get "softer bumpers"????? ROTFL!!!!!

don't you mean Martin, kevin drives for RCR last i heard

I do not think it is really an issue of how NASCAR USED to do thingsd. Fact is they have changed thier rules and fines over the past few years and made a bog tadoo about how the fines, etc. were going to be more in line with the act but in this case they totally went the other direction and simply said it was not a big deal.

I stand corrected, DE7xwcc. You're right!!!! My bad.
color me embarrassed. LOL
