What a Day

My day was going ok--work was fine, made a few sales, and picked the girls up from school. We decided to go the mall before ballet. I'm driving down the road and was a little cold so I turned the heater up. OH, about 3 seconds later-----poof, smoke comes out the back of the car. I thought great, I just blew a motor. I pull over and I'm at a red light. Then I see FLAMES coming out from under the hood. I race over a to a side road and me and the girls pile out of the car. Smoke is everywhere and a guy I know pulls in behind me and we get the girls away from the car. Then we use his cell and call the fire department. They get there and take about 10 min. to put the fire out. They couldn't get the hood up it had melted the cable. They hacked the hood off and smoke everywhere and the girls were crying. We call my father-in-law and he comes to pick us up and the car. Man can't a girl just go to the mall?

But here's the best part---the car was my brothers and guess who sold it to him---my husband! Needless to say, I'm home and not going anywhere tonight!

Wow, I thought my car troubles were bad today. I cracked my windshield.

Glad to hear you and the girls are OK. Just stay home and do some internet or TV shopping, it'll make you feel better.

Glad everyone is ok!!!
Thats kinda funny, but not really.

I had a good day going to day as well.
I helped my sister-in-law take there puppies to the vet and the mother dog. After that she was to take me to school. On the way one of the dogs knocked over a drink and made it look like i pee'd my pants. My home was 15 minutes away and class started in 5! So I went to class with wet pants!!! How fun!!

But yes your day was worse!!

I can feel your pain on this one,sgbg88.I remember once years ago I had an old 78 thunderbird that gave me a fit with a bad engine 'miss'.I tuned on it and tried every shade-tree mechanic trick I knew but had no luck.

One sunday,I was listening to the race on the radio and decided to take the car about a mile down the road to fuel it up.I cranked it and noticed at once it seemed to be running better.Inspired by this,I took off to the station, amazed and baffled that the problem had fixed itself!

And fix itself it had alright. When the smoke came out from under the hood about the time my wheels pulled into the station. And of course the a]motor didn't quit, and b]the flames didnt start ,until I was EXCACTLY at the gas pump.

Not the best place to have a engine fire, most would agree.

Of course, the old country store gas station attendant was helpful.....as soon as he stopped running.

It was quickly becoming a
remove-the-shirt-and -beat-out-the-flames moment.Which I finally did,fueled mainly by adreneline and terror!

Long story short:the guy that ran the store wasn't very happy, the car was REALLY unfixable now----and I had to walk home.

So as bad as your luck was today,it could have been worse. :(

Yes, 97 that is bad! Was no where near a gas pump, but----Hubby was to fix the hood latch that was not working. So even if I wan'ted to I couldn't have opened the hood! He will pay pay and pay dearly for this  But I still love him anyway  just not his mechanic skills :D
